I thought I would post this here as well.......

Alloway is building one hell of a Mustang right now. 4.6 mod motor that will be pushing 1200-1400hp. Full frame. Killer Alloway stance. Click Here (http://public.fotki.com/CraigMorrison/alloways_mustang/)

As more pics become available, I'll post 'em

the car is cool...but the rear wheel size looks like ass. that is a perfect example of too big of wheel on the wrong kinda car....but hey, maybe its just me.

i love it good to see the blue oval getting the high end treatment!
Why too big RR?

I like the wheel combo, sort of reminds me of Twin Stings Corvette. I am sure as it goes down the pipeline, he will nail it.

the front looks great...about an 18" wheel...the rears are atleast 22's, and a mustang cant handle a 22" wheel on the rear. troy's ebay car had 20's (i think) and that was really pushing it. the question was asked a couple weeks ago about wheels being too big...and IMO this is a perfect example of too big.... the rear wheels instantly stick out as gihugic in proportion to the rest of the car.

i like the mix of worked over shelby treatment to the nose, i like the stance, the motor is double throw down cool.....but the rear wheel size kills the overall "feel"

some cars can take a 22" wheel....like the green 70 'velle.... that car looks killer.... but this car shows a mustang "cant" make it work.

EDIT: this pic makes it look "better".... but i still think the huge wheel looks "goofy"

I'm with RR and hiwayman, I think the rear wheels are a bit too big. I like the look of big wheels on a 'cuda and a few other cars, but IMHO on the mustang they look out of proportion with the rest of the car. Other than that I think the car is incredible!

yeah the wheels might look big now, but have you ever seen a car from alloway that you did not like. That guy has an eye for stance. Maybe the car is not at ride height in the rear. And I'm sure that those are not the wheels going on the car.

i will wait and decide when it is done. That thing is awesome.

let's call it a 20/22

Since it's a KDW-2 these are the possible sizes

295 x 0.45 30.45 tall
305 x 0.50 32.01 tall

285 x 0.35 29.86 tall
295 x 0.40 31.30 tall
295 x 0.45 32.46 tall
305 x 0.40 31.61 tall

If you ran the common - 18" which seems to be the choice on this site
ps - yep this is the big dog one

335 x 0.30 25.91 tall

it's about 4" taller then the above. I quaranty that if you put a 26" tall tire on this car is would look dinky and we would be saying man it needs a bigger tire

SLO65 - you are right on the money. They are 20's 265's.

Like Bobby told me today "wheels are like boobs, while the stock ones look alright, big ones look really good." While I can't argue with that- the big wheel deal is an Alloway trademark. With two SMOY winners under his belt and one RU last year (Challenger), it looks like the judges tend to agree with the man.

I'll post more pics as they are available.

Have a great weekend; time for Mai Tai's! :D

better get him a little more width than that if he plans on harnessing that twin turbo Ford..I wouldn't think that tire has a decent speed rating either..We all know what we'd like to have, but guess what..no one makes it...I'd like a taller tire on the rear of the Cuda..like say a 345X35X20..no one makes such an animal

IMO bigger wheels like 22's and 20's are the new trend on bigger body cars. I have looked at a few Mustangs that look real nice with 22's on the back like the one foose did on overhaulin for that dude in the wheelchair. That one was very nice! I plan on putting 22's and 19 on my Chevelle. In the end its all about what u like though if its ur doe do it how u want it.

Hi LF,

I have been following that build also.

But...

The mod to the front frame rails kind of bothers me. They removed 50% of the inner rail (right at the torque box) to make the exhaust fit. I have been watching for any indication that they are going to add frame rail braces, etc... They have done a killer job up to this point, I can not see them just leaving the front end like that.

maybe this is just me, but i feel like Alloway cars all have kinda funny backspacing on those enormous wheels... they seem to sit way to far into the car, and appear as a kind of mix between pro-street and pro-touring...

personally id like to see a slightly smaller, wider wheel, pushed out of the car a hair... maybe then the car would look to be a little bit more "functional" and not so much like a huge toy.

i also personally dont like how muscle cars look "hot-rodded". i feel like they are better suited for more race/pro-touring styling.

again, thats all just my humble opinion. i think Alloway's work is top-notch, and that his styling is definently unique.

Are they using the all aluminum GT block for this build? It would be interesting to see the engine specs.

I agree. His cars look more like art than they do functional. I dont know what name I would give the class that his cars are in...but I wouldn't exactly call it pro-touring.

More impressed with what they are doing with the dash than anything else. I have always been a fan of sheetmetal dashes. It's great to see more mustangs these days getting the royal treatment. I was wanting to be different with my fastback by smoothing the upper vents like he has done. I have never been a fan of the upper vent on the 67's. Hoping to get the opportunity to see it at Sema. Thanks for the pictures!

I have seen Bobby Alloway's work and he is a true craftsman, but if you put a roots blower on this I think the design credit would have to go to Big Time/ Jada, Muscle Machines or Zingers. It's looking very Pro Street which is not necessarily bad, just defined as wretched excess.

The only thing I question is the structural integrity - if you are going to put a motor in that can make the car run 150-200 mph, or accelerate like a bat out of hell, where is the safety equipment? Like SN65 said, the frame rails have been hacked - have they been strengthened or updated? Is this a true driver or trailer queen ?

That's why I like Bob's Cuda so much. It IS a SMOY and a true driver. You can drive the hell out of it and live to tell about it another day.

I agree the wheels are stupid on that car. Well, wheels that size are stupid period, let alone on a car like that. Besides, Foose (on an episode of Overhaulin' at least a year ago, 67 or 68 fastback with silly huge rear wheels for a ghetto pro-stock look) and others have already done that and have proven how bad it looks.

I also agree regarding other statements about the frame and the power/speed/acceleration that the engine should be capable of producing. If it doesn't get a cage to tie it all together, then it is best left a trailer queen. Worst-case is someone thinks it is purpose built and actually drags it, stuffs it in the wall, and then will be able to completely copy Foose with hand control retrofits when the owner ends up in a wheelchair.

Otherwise the car looks to have some nice work done too it. If it just had reasonable wheels on it (nothing over 18"), the car would probably look amazing. I just can't get into that silly, heavy, huge wheel look - wait a minute.... nope, just hung my pants below my butt, hung my underwear out and put a cap on sideways with the bill rolled up and still don't get it...

this thread is actually pretty funny. There are not to many people on this board that should be bashing anything bobby alloway builds. You may not like or it may not be your style but he is one of the best builders in the country. And for those of you that dont know most of bobbys cars are not driven BUT they are as nice on the bottom as they are on the top.

And for the reasonable wheel size comment......I think you have missed out on the last few years of high end car building and what the market is going toward(almost all big name cars have 18+ size wheels) I could start naming them but then you would have to remeber what you said about cars looking dumb with big wheels

Didn't specifically bash on Alloway's building skills at all minus agreeing with another the car wouldn't be safe for the power; it's a trailer queen. I don't like that big wheel look on the rear on old cars, jeez, sorry for having an opinion. The new Vettes for instance looks awesome and I don't have an issue with the big wheels, but a wheel that big on a Muscle car just looks stupid IMO.

And I haven't missed out on the trend; I just don't like it. It's okay to go ahead and pull your panties back off and untie the knot  As to the limited posts I mostly lurk here as I still think Big Red is one of the coolest cars ever and have been into that look/style ever since (racer-built purpose cars that still retain the stock muscle car look with interior and so forth). Sold my 70 Fastback to pay for college years back, my current road race car is a full tube chassis Porsche 914 with a 525HP SBC and still has stock dash incorporated for instance - don't post here much as I feel that car is not approprate to this forum as it is licensed but really just a race car at this point with wipers and working lights ;)

yes you are intitled to an opinion just felt that you came off a little harsh is all. I like all kinds of cars for instance you car sounds pretty dam cool and big red is awesome. I will agree that alloway gets a lil carried away on his wheel selection but to say that all big wheels look bad is like saying all blondes look bad after you see a big fatty LOL! IF you think his muscle cars have big wheels I have seen alloway put 15's on front and 20's out back. NOt my style but I will say one thing he stays busy and lots of people love his cars.

At NAshville they had a Alloway get toghter, with 36 of his cars there. Hands down one of the best builders in the nation, and from what heard is booked for 2-3 years, I don't like the color combo on the Mustang myself.

Alloway is know for big wheels and 2 styles Halibrand style 5 windows and 5 spoke TT2 style.

The Cuda he did is awesome, didn't win SMOY a few years ago. and his street rods top notch.

The internet is a great avenue for us to share ideas, gain information, and make friends with common interest from great distances. The one thing we MUST always remember is that we should only say in type what we would say in person. Too many people run their keyboards and make comments they would never say to a persons face due to respect and thoughtfulness. Always remember "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all." If you feel the need to cut down another persons car or say something negative, just go to another thread.

OK....I am off of my soap box.
