I plan to do a writeup of my experience attending the 2016 VARA University 2 day school at Buttonwillow Raceway Park but in the meantime I'm so excited at how good my new external mic sounds that I had to share with you guys.

Good speakers or headphones encouraged. Also, its loud!

Welcome to my symphony of horsepower! :)

First two laps are lots of traffic. You can skip to the 3rd lap at 4:53 if you want to see and hear the only open (and therefore messy) lap I got all weekend.

Wow! You are becoming quite the video editor, producer and director Chad! Excellent video.

I can't wait to get to work to get to the PC with the good speakers to watch again.

What was the deal with all of the slow cars? Was it some sort of beginner or novice school event? That might have just drove me a bit crazy... Some of the cars looked like they could have at least been going a little bit faster than they were.

Olympus ME51S inside a Movo WS1 wind sock. It was tucked up inside the center bumper bracket and bumper.

Thanks Lance. I have learned a few things about the video editing program I've been using :) The first time I tried to do a video like this it took half a day. This time was maybe 2 hours. I'm getting better!

The cars were pretty slow. I had the incorrect preconceived notion that a school designed to license you to race wheel to wheel with other vintage race car owners would mostly be comprised of students with some decent track experience. In fact, over half of the people there probably had little to no experience and then many that did were driving cars that follow strict vintage rules requiring some pretty old technology and no modifications.

Still in my group was a highly prepped modern Mustang with carbon fiber hood, trunk and even doors, some big aero and it still was slow... Overall, I still had fun running on the track but wouldn't recommend that particular school to an experienced track driver who doesn't want to actually get a VARA racing license.

Every in-car video I've made sounds terrible... so maybe now I can get some decent audio! Thanks for the info!

Great stuff Chad. Thanks for sharing. I feel for you...All those rookies. It must have been a frustrating day, but the end video sure was good: )
