My mind is going about 30 different directions... :D I think someone needs to build this into a SCCA CAM car or or even a track day car. It's small, light, has killer lines, and most importantly is not a basket case. It's a 1962.5 Falcon Futura with a 1968 6 cylinder engine and 1964 C4 trans, so you don't have to worry about cutting up a numbers matching car...

I have more pics of it, but have never seen it in person. It's about 3 hours away from me. So what is the consensus? Is this a good platform to build off or is the fact it's a light unibody too hard to make handle?

Lance you know what it takes to be competitive in CAM and road racing...:G-Dub: Take the purchase price, multiply that by 5 and you've got yourself a FUN car, heck throw a turbo on the 6 and an 8.8 rear and it'd be a fun little sleeper.

To answer some of your questions. A cage and subframe connectors do wonders for unibody cars. I'm not sure if this early of a falcon will take mustang bolt ons or not but that seems like the way to go to keep the budget in check. It's a great looking car but to be competitive I think you'd just be using the shell.

Life's short, I say you do it and post up all the info here!

You mean that money that is now rebuilding and upgrading Barney's engine? :)

That would end up being about what I've got in Barney now...and probably close to right. The end result would be much different though.

What is weird is I had a dream the other night that Barney was stolen out of my garage (while engineless no less) and I spent quite a lot of time trying to think of what I would replace it with. :confused59:

This is my Falcons build thread:

http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=39876

It was reasonably competitive 2 seasons ago, but now that the fast guys are on 315's and larger it is a little off pace.

Most of the 65-66 Mustang parts will work for suspension. The exceptions are the steering center link and the leaf springs. Mike Maier Inc makes an early falcon specific coil over upper arm with excellent geometry and uses a JRI shock. I have the prototypes on my car. The 70-73 mustang spindle has the strongest pin and the correct geometry. If you want to run larger than 225 front tires you will need some custom spindles. We are also working on a MOD2 torque arm that is a little narrower to fit the Falcon's frame rails. I should have it under my car in the next 6 weeks.

With a V8, 5 speed and decent sized wheels and tires you will be right around 3100 pounds. Add a cage and some safety gear and you are right at the 3200# minimum.

Just the fact that Charley likes it - means I wouldn't get it..... Because then he'll start on you with "you know what you need.....?"

I've always liked these cars. Two cars is expensive - by a factor of X... more importantly - ask Charley how much TIME it takes to mess with a bunch of cars.

I think even if you bought it at a good price did a few upgrades held onto it for a couple more years you would come out ahead. In my opinion people are getting burnt out on the 67-69 Camaro... thats why you see the 70's becoming so popular.

The Nova's, Falcon's etc are on the rise, there are very few of them that nicely done.

Agree with this. You make your money on the purchase, buy it right and have fun with it. I think the only people NOT burnt out on 67-69 Camaros are those folks building them!

This isn't the same year...these years are better :D I've seen him run in the historics up here in the NW and it works very well with old school equipment.

Agreed, but....you OLD retired guys have nothing BUT time. You should buy this Greg, and then sell it to Charley, after making it a track car. Shoot, Sutton would love this one!

The gas monkey one is actually the coolest one I've seen as far as doing a pro-tour version.
