Found this on Craigslist and just had to have it. It's a 2008 model . No blue arch start or wave options but only had 5 hours on the clock. got me HF cart , cut and reinforced it and was able to package it pretty well for Mobil jobs. Now I spend all my time learning how to use it and forgot about my Camaro project.
But hope to put it to use soon. My biggest problem is welding pieces of thin aluminum. It curls / burns up on me before I can get a puddle going.
Watched about every video from Jody ( welding tips n trucks.com) looks so easy on TV :)

Welding aluminum IS easy....

It has to be super clean - and you're on A/C ??

If you're having issues --- try brushing it with a fine stainless steel wire brush along the edges you plan to weld. Go slow on the power when you first light it off - sneak into it (not too slowly or it soots up)... Also what tungsten diameter and gauge of aluminum and what grade of aluminum are you trying to weld??

Also --- hope you're not using GREEN (pure) tipped tungsten.... This is an INVERTER machine - so you don't ball the tungsten. You sharpen it and then knock the point off just a tad. Use 2% Ceriated.

Hey Gregweld so it's not just the name you know what you doing:)
Tx for the help.
Welding 18g aluminum anything thicker I do ok for a beginner.
Type ? Pick up random clean pieces from salvage yard. Pretty soft maybe 3003
Using 3/32 2% lanthinated tungsten . Sharpened ( pretty thin ) w designated grinder , create a landing or let it burn and ball it's self.
AC balance is @ 65%
Frequency is at around 140-150 for inside corner
4043 1/16 rod -
About 50 amps but I don't floor it.
15lbs argon w #7 gas cup
Cleaned w acetone than brushed w Ss brush
Also tried .040 tungsten w no luck
My fight is right at beginning , arch wonders to one side or other ( tried higher freq) . But not able to establish puddle before I put gash on one side or other.
R.
Maybe more seat time and popcorn will do it ?

I passed on ceriated since I'm in my home garage and don't want that stuff flying around.
