So I have no rear end ordered yet for my 68 camaro. How will a 18x11 with 5.625 BS look? please my head is spinning with all these numbers. does anyone have this setup. I am going to run 18x9.5 with 5.5 BS on the fronts which ridetech recomends. :waveflag:

I am assuming the car is mini tubbed. If you dont have the rear end yet, you can select the rim width/backspacing you like. Once tires are installed, mock them up in the wheelwells so there is equal clearance between the tire and the fender lip on the outside, and between the tire & the frame rail on the inside. Then measure the distance between the wheel mounting surfaces of each wheel. Now you have your rear end measurement, less the thickness of your rotors. For the front, need to know what suspension & brakes your are running.

thank you, yes the car is mini tubbed and i will be running a ridetech 4 link with baer pro + 14" brakes. I am looking for a 4 inch lip so I should be fine with that BS and then just measure my rear?

Yup pick your desired back spacing. Once mocked into place measure the width from wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface. you then subtract the thickness of your rotor hats..... and viola! you will have your rear end width flange to flange. What size of tire do you plan on using?

Thanks to everyone who I have reached out to for wheel advice. I was rushing it trying to take advantage of the holiday sales going on. I am just going to hold off do some more research on exactly what I like for looks and rent a measuring tool. thanks all

That will look fine. Plenty of lip.

Are the wheels you have the final ones you are going to use? Do you have any tires mounted on these wheels? With mini-tubs you can go up to 18x12 with no problem. My wheels are 18x12 5.6"bs and a 57" rear axle width. Your wheels have nearly the same bs so a 57" axle would net you an extra inch clearance between the wheel and fender. If you are sticking with the current 18x11 wheel a 59" axle width would be in the ball park. However, if you think you might go with a wider wheel you will need to plan for that. Now is the time to decide because once you order the axle you are pretty much locked in to the configuration.

I'm running 18x11 on a 315/30/18 for a nice balance. Check out my thread for details.

John do you happen to know your measurements for the rear end? I'm using the same size wheel but with a 5.25" backspace

Is that a WMS to WMS measurement?

Not sure. Just reading off the receipt from when it was ordered. I believe it is the total width.

The housing flange to flange measurement is irrelevant to the discussion of fitting wheels since different axles can change the actual Wheel Mount Surface( WMS) to WMS dimension. When fitting wheels the only measurement that means anything is the width from one WMS to the other WMS. This is where the wheels actually seat on the rear end assembly.

That 54.75" is from housing flange to housing flange not axle flange. The WMS to WMS of that rear end is in the neighborhood of 57" otherwise those wheels will not fit that car. My 18x12 5.6bs wheels are running on my 57" WMS to WMS rear end.

I'm just finishing up a 67 with 17x12" rear wheels, 6" BS. I had the 12 bolt narrowed to 55" WMS to WMS. Running a 315/35/17. The rear in my 69 is 56" WMS to WMS running 18x12, 6" BS and 335/30/18. Both cars have rolled fender lips. Each car is a bit different, but I have nearly equal space between the tire/fender lip, and tire/inner wheel house. Hope this doesnt muddy the water, just thought it may help for comparison. Scott

just to make sure I understand WMS is the measurement from outer surface of the brake rotor (wheel mounting surface)??? correct?

The measurements I listed are without the rotors, but yes, the outer axle flange that the wheel studs go through. I take the rotor thickness into account, but dont measure with them mounted.

Steve couple questions, what tire size are you running in the back and did you need to modify your front inner fender wheel wells? Understand you rolled the outer fender lip but i was more concerned with the inside clearance.

Thx
