Danny Popp capped off an incredibly successful 2015 racing season by driving his 1972 Corvette LT1 on Forgeline GA3R wheels to victory, in the 2015 Duel in the Desert, at the Goodguys 18th Southwest Nationals, in Scottsdale, AZ, and earned the 2015 Goodguys Accel AutoCrosser of the Year title!
Danny’s win at Scottsdale was full of drama, as he very narrowly defeated second place Mike Junior Johnson and third place Scott Fraser. The battle was extremely close, and it literally came down to the last lap, where Danny managed to lay down a clean lap (despite some sideways corner sliding) and sneak in under the wire to end up on top.
Danny’s 2015 victory marks his second AutoCrosser of the Year title, having also won in 2013. And it comes just two weeks after Danny claimed his third Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational national championship, in Las Vegas. In fact, his entire 2015 season was spectacular and also included winning the Grand Champion title at the Holley LS Fest, placing second in the Ultimate Street Car Association GT season points championship, and winning race victories at Thunderhill, NCM Raceway, and Michigan International Speedway.
We are very proud to play our own small role in Danny’s impressive accomplishments, and we are very thankful for his loyalty and enthusiasm for Forgeline wheels. He is not only an impressive driver, but also an excellent brand ambassador. Thank you, Danny Popp, and congratulations on an outstanding 2015 season!
