So what does everyone think of the reversed lip wheels?

I'm looking at ZE Forged Mesh wheels with a dark center since I want a more aggresive look than my Intro Pentia 5s have. Also, I used this as a good time to step up from 17s to 18s. I really like the wheels on Penny.

My 68 Camaro has taken on more of a performance look, but with full interior including Sparco seats, harnesses, a roll bar, you get the idea. And will have no bling under the hood, all cast/satin aluminum, ect. I guess along the lines of Fuel and The Mule. Pro-Touring meets Street Fighter!

So my question is, does the reversed lip wheels screem street rod, or is it just a modern and clean look? My intros are reversed lips and I like the look, I just don't care for the full polished, billet look for this car anymore....

The ZE wheels only come in the reversed lip. I've stared at pics of Fuel's wheels for, well probably too long, and I think they look sweet...this is a tuff decision...I need input!! BTW, the car will be silver with black interior. Thanks!!!

The Intro's are for sale w/ Sumitimo tires, mounted, balanced and never used...just mocked up during the build. The price is $1500 plus shipping. The sizes are:

17x8 w/ 5" b.s. 245/45/17
17x10 w/ 5" b.s. 315/35/17

Let me know!!

When the reverse lip started taking off, I thought they were on the street rod side of the spectrum, but now that they are so popular I see that style on everything from muscle cars to trucks to Vettes. If I had to buy wheels right now... I'm not sure what I'd do. lol I'm a lot of help, aren't I.

How do you mount reverse-lip wheels in the tire changer without marking up the wheels? Seems to me you'd have to mount the tires the opposite way, and risk damage from the jaws of the changer.

note: also maybe interested in the wheels... got any pics? :)

You have to use a 'european' machine, the same kind they use for the big SUV and tuner wheels. This machine mounts the tire from the back side of the wheel and nothing metal touches the wheel...only plastic touches the wheel.

i dont think the 10's will work on my 66 gto, not without a lot of work that i dont wanna do to a numbers matching car. but i will keep it in mind if i pick up something else in the near future

Reverse lips look better, but are not as strong as stepped lips. 18 inch tires will still have enough sidewall for protection, but anything bigger will bend the wheel pretty easy. I live in San Francisco, and our streets are rough, so results may vary...

I like the look of reverse lips since it makes the wheel look bigger and deeper, but they look like show car wheels. It's a hard choice and I'm always on the fence between the two.

Not sure about that year, I'm told they will fit the 70-72 A body.....

I'm told they will fit the 70-72 A body.....They should... and I'm thinking pretty serious about them. I love the look of those, and the price is right. I was planning to run 9.5s and 11s, but I may be willing to compromise to save some money :)

If I could just figure out how to pay for them... fundage is a little low since buying the '66 :(

i could set the body back on the chassis and "measure", but it might be easier if you just ran them down for mock-up :D

I have a friend with a 66 Chevelle, would that be the same as your GTO? I take it it has a stock width axle? I possibly could test fit on his car....

I thought you came up here all the time...come on you know you wnat them!!

Take a look at any of the pics I posted in the start of this thread, they are all reversed lip wheels. Notice how the lip is bull nosed and there are no steps in the dish of the wheel like a 'standard' wheel...the dish is just flat, smooth and clean looking!

Thanks for asking! Remember the only dumb question is the one not asked!!
