So here it goes....Im going to be taking a bath on this one but I just don't have the time or space to make this car work. If you're willing to put in the work, this could make a very solid basis for an excellent pro touring ride as every piece is here, in great condition.


I have an extremely nice, numbers matching, 1969 L46/M21 side pipe car in Fathom Green with Saddle interior and black top. Options include 3.70 posi rear, power brakes/steering (with tilt/telescoping wheel)/windows.

Now on to the bad news.....there is some rot in the upper windshield frame:

That being said, both side pillars are solid all the way down to the #2 pockets. I purchased a high resolution borescope (or as high resolution as you can find) and scoped both pillars from the #2 pockets all the way up....there is no indication of anything other than some slight surface corrosion. Below are pics of the driver and passenger side #2 bolts and pockets....the driver side is slightly worse than the passenger side, but both have solid metal all around. The driver side bolt may or may not need to be cut out, but with some penetrating oil and the proper finess, I anticipate the passenger side will come out in one piece.

I probed the C-channel between the 2 and 3 bolts all the way aft on both side, and the channel appears to be very solid...it was impossible to get decent pics, but from what I could see, there is little to no surface corrosion at all. Below are the pics of both #3 mounting bolts....they both look to be in decent shape as far as I can tell.....again, penetrating oil, finess, BFR, cutting wheel as necessary.


The kick ups in the rear will likely need a little work. As you can see, the shims and hardware are damn near new, so somebody in the past had the trailing arms out, but they both look like they're going to need some metal work. I stuck the borescope in there as best I could, and the driver side looks relatively solid, but the passenger side appears to have a small hole in it. There isn't any real rot around it, but it does look like water over time has created or expanded the hole. As best I could tell, there are no other frame issues in those back corners other than what you can see in the floors of the pockets.

Jumping back to the front of the car, the #1 bolts, seat and seat belt brackets, radiator support, front trim, and the rest of the underside appear to be in good shape....

Lastly, out back, both #4 mounts will need to be replaced. The bolts and shims both look like they've recently been replaced with new hardware, but as you can see in the pics, the body mount is completely corroded (especially on the drivers side) and needs to be replaced.


So there you have it...the good, the bad, and the ugly. I have LOTS more pics of specific areas for anyone interested....unfortunately Im limited to 15 here. All of the mechanical gear runs great....engine fires right up, pulls strong, shifter is smooth. I have the documentation from the rebuild of the original Q-Jet by Lars about 3 years ago. Parking brake holds properly, brakes are firm and responsive, hell, even the vacuum system, fiber optics, and clock work in this thing. The battery compartment is all original and undamaged. The car also comes with a black vinyl hard top that I purchased separately.

I've done my best to represent this car as honestly as possible. If anyone would like pics of anything else, or any additional info, don't hesitate to contact me. For those that might be interested, I highly recommend you come give the car a good once over in person...Im perfectly happy to facilitate removing wheels/tires/access panels, trim, etc in order for you to get a proper evaluation of the car. I really feel that despite the fact the body probably needs to come off the frame in order to properly and permanently repair the car, the value is in that EVERYTHING is there, and in the excellent shape. The paint looks great, and the interior is pretty much new....I have receipts for all carpet/trim/seat covers done by one of the previous owners.

All of that being said, the car is located in Norfolk VA with a price of $19,995

Props to you for representing the car as it truly is. The C2/3 cars can easily hide major damage. Best of luck with the sale. It's a great looking car.

Thanks, I appreciate the support! Like you said, it really is a nice car that has the problems typical for this generation car....unfortunately most don't disclose the issues when selling, and they're easy to hide from the uninitiated. Hopefully someone will see the value in this car....if it doesn't sell, the plan is to put it in long term storage and eventually separate the body from the frame and stick it on an SRIII chassis.

That's not a bad plan. That's a great chassis that helps these cars ride and handle very well. It's a shame it get's almost completely hidden when in place.
