Been reading many of the posts and appreciate everyone sharing their learnings. It's really been helpful in the last two years to get my project this far. Hopefully we will be driving it early next year.

Nice to see you came out of the shadows and started posting. Some impressive looking work there. Hope you'll share more about your build.

Here's what I started with...I bought it back in '82 as my first car while in high school. It sat in the barn for probably 25 years then moved with me quite af few times before I had the time and funds to get it on the road again. Been working on it for about two years now...trying to bring it out of the '70s

Hers a pic after we got the speedtech torque arm rear suspension in, with DSE mini tubs and full quarter panels. Decided some new forgelines looked a lot better than the aluminum slotted mags.

Finally got it off the jack stands! New hood is in - thank you Anvil. Will paint it in Imola Red, it's already on the firewall and radiator support. Thinking about stripes though. Maybe rally stripes like a Z28 but undecided at this point. Any thoughts on stripes?

WSSix
03-31-2016, 06:51 PM
What color stripes? I like to see red broken up typically. I wouldn't do white stripes. Maybe gray or a darker silver.

Congrats on getting it back on the wheels!

Good luck moving forward

I have anvil's Carbon hood, trunk lid and filler. Was thinking that some part of the stripe scheme would show the carbon fiber weave.

Thanks. I was real happy that when I let the clutch out, the car actually moved without making any bad noises. Btw, I did put a set of mufflers on it to tone it down a bit for the neighbors and my dog.

They are CAN-AM white and I put 1970-3 Z-28 emblems as well.I hate decals .because they peel after time.Good luck on your build.http://s1064.phorobucket.com

Pulled apart the front end to square away the plumbing and wiring prior to installing the body panels. I've been looking at options to replace the factory type plastic wire looms and like the braided type materials, but I'm looking to see if anyone has some suggestions?

For the interior I’m looking at TMI’s chicane sport gt seats, still figuring out door panels, dash and center console. Hoping to get a complete package I can install, but I think only TMI offers a complete interior.

I’ve been looking forever for a complete package solution but what I think you will find is that there really isn’t anything.

TMI does nice seats but you kind of have to go customers on door panels, rear seats, console etc

I am considering modern interior concepts for door panels and console.

Good luck.

Are the the rear seat pads in your car narrowed for mini tubs? Wondering because TMI has a standard width rear seat pattern but not one for narrowed seats. If your are narrowed I may be able to ask if the can duplicate the dimensions. Thanks.

Rear seat was left stock and worked fine.

Looking back I wish I would have removed the kick panels in the rear and do what Nick did with his red 70. I like how he used the wheel tubs as the interior panel. I still may do that as it looks really nice.

Hey Syborg, not to hijack your discussion but can I inquire about your rear seat belts...specifically how the shoulder straps are anchored and what brand they are? It's exactly what I'm looking for to provide some protection for my boys when riding in my car with the roll bar. Even though the crossbar is removable, I feel it may be just as dangerous hitting the crossbar attachment studs as it would the bar itself in the event of a crash. Thanks

Not to worry at all. Early in the build process Dennis at High Speed Welding welded a crossbar with threaded bungs under the package tray and the 4 point seat belts are from Seat Belt Planet. The best part is they are DOT approved.

If you look back there are pics of the crossbar.

Marty, I've got slip fit at the header collector and v-band clamps right behind the mufflers. It works well though it can be a bear to pull off from the headers since I'm on my back when I do it. But not having to drop the over axle pipes is great. Best part is I can pull them out should I need to without dropping the rear end. I'm dumping my exhaust right behind the wheels too. I recommend something similar while you have your exhaust out.

Good luck!

What headlights are those?
I bought Dapper Lighting, still have'nt put them on, PNA. gonna take 4 hours or so, i might try to get them done before the tour.
My interior and rear seat delete hasn't gone so well. Upholstery was inquired about in May, was told 6 weeks before he could get me in. just after the 4th of july, then it was bring it in on the 20th (i was on vaca, so i screwed that one up) then bring it in the 10th of august, picked it up today, going back in October, with a short fuse.
I'm friends with Nick, his interior is very very nice, especially the rear panels and seats, other than that, pretty much stock, dash, door panels, carpet etc, but very clean....
Now, Marty on the other hand.....:hello:

The headlights are from Dapper. Yah, it took a while to cut open the headlight buckets to make room for the headlamps. Luckily, once you open up the buckets the lights clear the radiator support and bolts in fine.

For interior, I ordered the chicane pro seats from TMI. For the rear I’m still not decided on what to do.

The spoiler is from Anvil Auto. The front fit really well and just bolted on; the rear spoiler required quite a bit of work to get it to fit the original factory end caps. I’d recommend getting the anvil center and end caps for the rear. They should fit better together.

What do you mean by "match up"? colorwise?

I've never heard of Optic Armor, i believe it might be an acrylic product (plexiglass) of some sort. Only problem with those is they dont hold up for drivers. They are on alot of show cars, that do get driven, but longevity is subjective.
I went NOS on my doorglasses, Pilkington classics for the windshield and back glass. And built my own flush mount kit. you can see it here

:) thanks man! I been building that thing for years now. when you get near 6 figures of budget spent on these things with out driving it you really get stressed to finally see it drive. Which is where I was when I did that video.
The exhaust is full stainless.
Engine:Texas Speed 427 ls3
Headers are DSE.
3 inch thick walled tubes back to spin tech 3000 Sportsman mufflers.
used the pypes exhaust tail pipes for DSE 9" 5 link rear end installed, they cleared the DSE stainless tank perfectly.
I have thousand + hours in this thing, members on this board have helped me alot, especially Syborg tt. Got his custom battery tray for instance.
Need to do a build thread on here I guess.
I am in Denver btw.

And approaching 6 figures can be done very easily and quickly too. Geesh!!
