I have a T56 Magnum purchased new and now has about 3500 miles on it. The more I drive it the less impressed I am with the stock Tremec shifter. I am constantly missing 3rd and getting 5th. So I would like to see what T56 Magnum shifter others have had luck with. I am also very interested in the S1 sequential shifter if it actually comes to production. Any thoughts or recommendations?

While that shifter is cool... they don't make one for the T56 Magnum.... yet.
I've been in contact with them and it's in the works. Timeframe... who knows.

I've been using the Hurst Blackjack shifter on my T56 Magnum and could not be more satisfied.

Even with the Blackjack my trans shifted somewhat tight until 3,500 miles, now it's smooth as butter. I find the shifter very positive, but you have to trust it and yourself. That trans and shifter are hands down the best money I've spent on my car in 25 years of ownership.

FWIW - I've driven a '14 1LE Camaro and '15 C7 Z51 Vette and felt my car's shifter was superior with respect to throw and gate selection.

Let the shifter self center, then go to 3rd. I actually like the stock shifter if it would just keep the fluid inside of it.

If you want to change it, call MGW and tell them to make one with a manual reverse lock out for us hot rodders.

I have about 5000 miles on the transmission now and the shifting has smoothed out significantly. I have also adjusted how I shift and that seems to have helped with catching 5th by mistake. I have continued to follow the S1 Sequential shifter development and they have indicated a price of $1900 US and that a T56 Magnum version is coming soon. I am still interested in the sequential shift but I'm not in any immediate need for one.

I was as well but that's some serious coin for a shifter :walkingdog:

if you are having fluid puking issues which I've chased as well on T56 Magnums... you have 1 of 2 problems. The shifter rubber boot on the underside (in the trans) could be damaged. Or the factory rear output shaft seal that came with them needs to be changed out.

check the shifter 1st... then try the next option.

Lastly you need to RTV the mechanical speedo block off plug in place and bolt it in too (not the rubber shipping temporary one that comes with it).

It's frustrating but that should tackle it.

Regarding leaking - Make sure the factory vent is functioning properly. If not the trans can create excessive internal pressure that will push fluid past the seals.

I quick fabbed this to check the venting.
