Need Some Input Please

I am considering saving the door locks on my 67 and going with keyless entry like many modern cars now have. I'm not really up to speed on these systems and the options out there right now or which one(s) are better than others.

If you've used one, are planning to or just know a bit about them, I'd really appreciate your input.

I have used Autoloc components to piece together keyless entry and window control (could roll windows up or down from key fob) and the components have been flawless for 10+ years. Fabrication required for individual components though.

MODO makes a keyless entry kit and has a specific mounting bracket for camaros.

I like the idea. However, I'd put a fail safe system in the car like most modern cars have. A keyed trunk lid with a manual cable to the drivers door.

My C6 had it and I quickly understood why. The keyless system was not great and I did lock the remote in the car at one point. I was able to use the key to pop the trunk and pop open the drivers door with the cable.

Otherwise, you run the risk with an enclosed trunk of having a cock pit you simply can't access without breaking a window.

When I re-did my Brother in Laws '69 Camaro -- with shaved doors - I put a very small braided SS wire connected to the door latch and ran it down to the driver wheel well... you'd never find it if you didn't know it was there to look for it. Put a loop on the wheel well end of it. All it took was a pen or pencil thru the loop and a pull and the door was open.


I had a keyless fob and electric locks on the NOMAD for years... it worked great. But I don't remember what brand it was. They're just small electric solenoids that attach to the door lock rod. With a hidden brain box and small wire antenna.

Good advice. When I shaved my door handles I had keyless door poppers, keyless window roll down, a push button mounted under the vehicle to pop the drivers door, and battery jump posts in the fender well. If the battery died I could jump it to get either the windows or door to open. They make cables, keyed for security if you are concerned, for this exact purpose
