ONE OF THE NICEST EXAMPLES OF A 1965 PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE YOUR GOING TO FIND IN THE UNITED STATES, THIS CAR WAS A 3 YEAR PROJECT THAT SNOWBALLED OUT OF CONTROL INTO WHAT WE HAVE HERE. THE CAR WAS BUILT EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE LAS VEGAS SEMA SHOW, THE CAR DEBUTED IN 2009 TAKING HOME A GENERAL MOTORS DESIGN AWARD FOR BEST MIDSIZE VEHICLE, JIM WAGNER'S STOPPED BY AND SIGNED THE CAR WHILE ATTENDING THE SEMA SHOW. THE CAR WAS ALSO GIVEN A SEMA TOP 25 FROM HOT ROD MAGAZINE AND SUBSTANTIALLY FEATURED IN THE JUNE 2010 ISSUE OF HOTROD GETTING A EIGHT PAGE SPREAD,THE CAR WAS THEN INVITED TO GO TO THE HOT ROD POWER TOUR. THE CAR WASN'T DONE THERE IT RECEIVED A FIRST PLACE IN ITS CATEGORY AT THE 2010 GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW. THEN STREET STYLE MAGAZINE DID A WRITE UP ON THE CAR IN 2010 AFTER BEING SHOWN AT THE SEMA SHOW AGAIN IN 2010. THE CAR HAS ALSO RECEIVED SOME AWARDS AT LOCAL SHOWS AND ONCE AGAIN FIRST IN ITS CATEGORY. THE CAR HAS BEEN FEATURED ONLINE AT " THE MUSCLE CAR PLACE PODCAST. EPISODE #55. THIS CAR IS VERY SUBTLE AND DETAILED ORIENTED, IF YOUR LOOKING FOR BRIGHT AND FLASHY YOU HAVE THE WRONG CAR. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR CLASS AND ELEGANCE, WITH A TOUCH OF AUTHORITATIVE SOUND THEN THIS IS THE CAR.
THE CAR WAS USED ON JUNE 27TH IN ONE OF THE OAKLAND A'S GAMES TO CARRY ONE OF THE PLAYERS OF THE 1965 SEASON " JOHN BLUE MOON ODOM" THE GAME WAS A COMMEMORATIVE 1965 EDITION GAME.

THE CAR STARTED LIFE AS A 1965 LEMAN'S CONVERTIBLE BUILT AT THE FREMONT PLANT ON THE VERY LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER OF 1964. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY A 326 AUTOMATIC CAR. I PURCHASED THE CAR AS OF MARCH 21ST 2006 WITH THE INTENTIONS OF JUST CRUISING IT AROUND AS A DRIVER. THE PLAN WAS TO PUT A HOTTER 455 IN IT, WELL THAT IS WHERE THINGS TOOK A TURN FOR THE BETTER. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED DOWN TO A BARE BODY SHELL. THE BODY WAS BLASTED TO FIND ANY HIDDEN BODY ROT. THE DRIVER SIDE QUARTER PANEL HAD ROT IN THE LOWER HALF BEHIND THE WHEEL PLUS A LONG GENTLE LOW SPOT. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD THE USUAL ROT AND REQUIRED A PATCH PANEL. THE TRUNK FLOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FROM MAJOR PITTING DUE TO A LEAKY TRUNK WEATHER STRIP AND THE FRONT DRIVERS FLOOR WAS PATCHED DUE TO A ROTTED WINDSHIELD CHANNEL THAT LEAKED WATER. THE WINDSHIELD CHANNEL WAS REPLACED AND WHILE THAT WAS BEING DONE THE OPENING FOR THE SINGLE DASH SPEAKER WAS SHAVED. A NEW DRIVERS SIDE QUARTER SKIN AND A PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PATCH PANEL WAS INSTALLED, ALONG WITH A NEW TRUNK FLOOR, NEW WINDSHIELD CHANNEL AND DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR PATCH.

AFTER AND WHILE THIS WORK WAS BEING DONE IT WAS ALSO DECIDED TO MODIFY THE CAR WHERE NEED.
THE CAR WAS MINI TUBBED TO ACCOMMODATE A 13 INCH REAR TIRE, THE FRONT INNER FENDERS WERE MODIFIED OVER WHERE THE A ARM OPENING IS TO ACCOMMODATE THE NARROWER SCHWARTZ A ARMS. THE LOWER HALF OF THE INNER FENDERS HAD A 3 INCH STRIP ADDED TO THEM TO CLOSE THE GAP UP BETWEEN THE FRAME AND INNER FENDERS. THE FIRE WALL WAS THEN CUT OUT AND REPLACED WITH A FLAT SHEET OF STEEL. THE AC BULK HEAD WAS THEN ROUTED THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE COWL.
THE ROCKER MOLDINGS AND WHEEL WELL MOLDINGS WHERE SHAVED OFF THE VEHICLE ANY EXTRA HOLES IN THE FACTORY RADIATOR SUPPORT WERE FILLED,ETC
THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE CAR WAS MADE TO COME TO A PEAK INSTEAD OF HAVING THE FACTORY LICENSE PLATE RELIEF. THE DASH OF THE CAR WAS THEN MODIFIED TO NOT INCLUDE A FACTORY DASH PAD OR GRAB BAR. INSTEAD A 1964 GTO DASH EMBLEM WAS INSTALLED. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE CAPPED OFF AND NEVER REINSTALLED.

WHILE ALL THE IS WORK WAS GOING ON A SCHWARTZ CHASSIS WAS ORDERED WITH WILWOOD 6 PISTON SUPER LITE CALIPERS FRONT, WILWOOD 4 PISTON DYNALITES, FULL FLOATER WINTERS ALUMINUM 9" REAR DIFFERENTIAL WITH 3.70 GEARS AND A ALUMINUM MOSER CENTER SECTION. THE CHASSIS IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH RACK AND PINION STEERING, WILWOOD ALUMINUM HUBS AND COLEMAN ALUMINUM REAR HUBS.
AT THE SAME TIME THE ENGINE WAS BEING BUILT WHICH IS A PONTIAC V8

THE BOTTOM END CONSIST OF:455 BLOCK WITH 4 BOLT MAINS, TOTAL SEAL RINGS, EAGLE CRANK, EAGLE RODS,REVERSE DOME TRW PISTONS , SD455 OIL PUMP, MILODON WINDAGE TRAY AND CANTON OIL PAN.

THE TOP END CONSIST OF: EDLEBROCK HEADS 72CC , FERREA 2.11INTAKE AND 1.77 EXHAUST VALVES, MANLEY PUSHRODS, COMP CAMS XRTREME ENERGY ROLLER CAMSHAFT WITH 236/242 @ .050 WITH .572 LIFT INTAKE AND .594 LIFT ON EXHAUST, A SET OF LUNATI HYDRAULIC ROLLER LIFTERS WERE USED, ON TOP OF THE PUSH RODS ARE A SET OF 1.65 RATIO CROWER ROLLER ROCKERS AND TO CONTROL THE BUMPSTICK A BUTLER PERFORMANCE BILLET STEEL DOUBLE ROLLER TIMING SET WAS USED.
THROUGH OUT ENTIRE ENGINE ARP FASTENERS WERE USED EXCLUSIVELY

THE INDUCTION: BARRY GRANT SIX SHOOTER WITH A PORT MATCHED INTAKE.
MODIFIED BARRY GRANT AIR CLEANERS THROUGH OUT.

THE CAR WAS DYNO TUNNED AS OF RECENT AND LAID DOWN 448 REAR WHEEL HORSE POWER .

EXTERIOR APPEARANCE OF THE MOTOR WAS ACHIEVED BETWEEN A BRUSHED FINISHED AND MEDIA BLASTED STAINLESS FINISH.

ENGINE ACCESSORIES: MARCH SERPENTINE SYSTEM STRIPPED OF CLEAR POWDER COAT AND WITH OVER 35 HOURS OF BRUSHING TO ACHIEVE A SATIN FINISH.

TRANSMISSION: TKO600 WITH A QUICK TIME BELLHOUSING, SUPERIOR FRICTION METAL/KEVLAR CLUTCH AND A TILTON THROW OUT BEARING.

DRIVE SHAFT: 4 INCH ALUMINUM DRIVESHAFT WITH 1350 SERIES SPICER JOINTS.

DIFFERENTIAL: WINTERS FULL FLOATER ALUMINUM 9 INCH HOUSING, MOSER ALUMINUM 9 INCH THIRD MEMBER WITH TRU TRAC POSI /3.70 GEARS, REMOVALABLE AXLE TUBES AND COLEMAN BILLET HUBS. STOCK CAR STYLE DIFFERENTIAL.

THE SUSPENSION: SCHWARTZ CHASSIS, QA1 COIL OVERS, FULLY ADJUSTABLE DOUBLE WISH BONE FRONT. THE REAR SUSPENSION IS A TRIANGULATED 4 LINK THAT IS FULLY ADJUSTABLE WITH QA1 COIL OVERS.


PAINT: HOUSE OF COLOR BC 25 JET BLACK
IT WAS A 9 MONTH LONG PROCESS OF BLOCK SANDING AND LETTING PRIMERS CURE TO MINIMIZE SHRINKAGE TO THE FULLEST.

THE INTERIOR: HOWDY LEDBETTER CUSTOM ONE OFF FACTORY APPEARING LEATHER WITH 1965 GTO DOOR PANEL EMBLEMS EMBEDDED INTO THE SEAT.
THERE IS NO LONGER A CENTER CONSOLE IN THE CAR AND ALL THAT REMAINS IS A HURST SHIFTER WITH A ROUND BILLET RING THAT CLAMPS DOWN THE LEATHER SHIFTER BOOT. WE THOUGHT IT LOOKED MUCH MORE APPROPRIATE FOR THE CAR.

ENGINE TURN PANELS THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE INTERIOR, THE PANELS ARE .063 ALUMINUM TURNED PANELS(NOT A DECAL).
THE GAUGE CLUSTER PANEL IS ENGINE TURN AND THE LOWER RADIO/ ASHTRAY/ CIGARETTE LIGHTER PANEL IS A CUSTOM MADE ALUMINUM UNIT THAT HOLDS A ENGINE TURN INSERT.

WHEELS: ET 18X8 UP FRONT WITH THE VERY FIRST 20X12.5 FIVE SPOKES ET EVER MADE ON THE REAR. I AM THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR ET WHEELS MAKING 20X12S
THE WHEELS ARE WRAPPED IN MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 2S . FRONT IS 245/45/18 REAR IS 335/30/20
GAUGE CLUSTER: 2005 GTO TYPOGRAPHY WITH AUTO METER INTERNALS AND POINTERS IN THE FACTORY HOUSING.
THE GAUGE CLUSTER CARRIER WAS ALSO RE CHROMED AND REPAINTED BC25 JET BLACK.

CHROME: FRONT/REAR BUMPERS, VENT WINDOW FRAMES, A PILLAR TOP CAPS, ALL STAINLESS, TAIL PANEL, ETC WAS EITHER
TRIPLE CHROME PLATED OR POLISHED BY PAULS CHROME PLATING OF PA.

I tried to change the pics but ebay is refusing to let that happen, for some reason.

I agree with you some of the photos are tiny, when they were originally taken they were not small.
