This is getting some traction around other forums/sites... I don't know if it's more pathetic or hilarious. It's probably just both.

Seriously though... that guy is a disaster and menace to those around him. Bad things will likely happen if he continues like that.

The "instructor" is equally fired for his role. Wow.

Watching the video, I don't think the guy was listening to the instructor what-so-ever. Soon as he saw that GT3 he got the red mist and it was all over.

I thought it was racing, not crochet.?

Helmet selection pretty much summarizes it.

That 'instructor' should be a jet sprint navigator.

The C7 is amazingly forgiving.

I like the "red mist" comment. That's exactly what happens to some guys. Worse is that this guy is proud of himself, and will forever point to this accomplishment as reason for never needing to learn anymore.

They're called "track days".... he should have gotten black flagged and sent packing. But he'd have never seen a corner worker/starter. LOL

I read that Speed Ventures sent him home after that session. Good on them if that is what happened. Have not ran with SV but they have a good rep for running track days.

None of us know the real story, other than the dude's an idiot. His youtube comments speak to that. There's more to the story I'm betting.

A post I made on the vette forum:

Yep, they are a good group and Aaron runs a pretty tight ship. I know Oli knows them well. They also have run groups appropriate for driver skill and debriefs for the newbs. I've also seen newbs get black flagged for improper track entry at SV / ACS.

I will say I've been the with an instructor there that only had about a year of track time. When he pointed me in to the pits, I went in (he felt I had the line and wanted to observe from the bridge). Oh, and his top speed in most of the corners and the Roval was faster than this yahoo's (C6 Z51).

Not sure what the facts are of this knucklehead but I'm not jumping to conclusions about SV.

I generally bite my tongue on stuff like this but that is by far the best video I've seen on how modern traction controls can save your bacon. That car was being completely overdriven and it never even stepped out on him. The Porsche guy should have pointed him by and made some distance between when he saw the Corvette's erratic line behind him. No comment on the instructor though. I don't know how anyone could be a passenger in that situation. But from a spotter's perspective, there wasn't really anything that would warrant a black flag in most 'Group 4' HPDE's. People dice it up pretty good in Group 4 (open passing groups). I think what is most frustrating is that the true art of race craft is gone with these new cars.

I read this on the Vette site...

Maybe aFe can confirm/deny, but I don't think this guy was in actually in a Speedventures run group, but a rented aFe Power run group, at a SV day. See here: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...dway-free.html

That guy ran 1:49 lap times which is fast on that track. Man the new vette is impressive in how much it bailed that crazy driver out.

So can someone explain the obviously non Snell compliant helmet worn by the so called instructor? I can't see any reputable track day organization allowing, or any truly competent instructor wearing, that helmet. The video just smells funny to me.

I know that at the track day events I've been to,, they never check your safety gear and you tech your own car. I've seen a guy doing a ride along and he was wearing a bicycle helmet :badidea:

I hope that an actual instructor would have the balls to quell dangerous driving. However some groups the instructor is just another driver who is experienced and volunteered to ride along.

Hockey helmet is better than a bicycle one right? Haaa Puck pace!

Exactly. When you see an arse like than in your RVM, point him by just to reduce your own stress level. Whole thing is just as much the 911 guy's fault.

There's also an arse right in front of you here... his name is Vegas69

Whole thing is just as much the 911 guy's fault.

It's not about who is more or less at fault. It really is about what NOT to do on the track, and you're right, they are both morons.

I've kicked plenty of guys out of DE's. I actually enjoy booting bad instructors!
