Right now I have the car setup for manual steering with a stock manual box. The front tires are 245/45/17 and Im concerned its going to be a bear to steer. Will a s-10 box and a ls1 pump work ok for the street with maybe some
track time. What would be the best steering box on a budget(used or less than $150)

:Its a 71 Nova with the stock subframe and a turbo 6.0. I think I could fit a LS1 pump in the stock location.

i dont know weather or not they will work but i look at using a third gen camaro box but if you want to use an s10 box look for one from a zq8 they both have a quicker ratio then the standard s trucks but id try the manual sterring first and see how bad it is rember a lager wheel can give you more leverage besides most gm manual sterring boxes have a high enough ratio to make it easy

I have manual right now... its only a pain when you are turning at a dead stop... anything above 2 miles per hour, the thing turns easily.

Did the ls1 pump work? Any other progress pics? Can we get a full picture of the engine with piping?

 on the build

Decided to leave the manual steering on it for now and see how it is. The engine is all apart for machine work now, so I dont have any more pics.
