Hey all, i've got about 100 magazines from the early to mid sixties, most in excellent condition, some in good, almost to none in what i would consider "fair". My dad gave them too me on my 40th (nine years ago) and i haven't done anything with them.

So, Ebay? frame some? anybody here looking for anything in particular? I'm just remodeling my closet so my wife can fill it with more crap, I mean clothes...sorry dear.

I had a bunch from the mid 50's through the late sixties, lots of the little ones as well. I read them all and then recycled them. I learned quite a bit from those rags...Barris was a hack, Karts were super neat and racing, all types, wasn't full of rolling billboards. Loved reading the classifieds in the back!

I'm sure you could get a few bucks for them especially the more popular covers, Shelby's, Ed Roth...is it worth your time?

Someone on the HAMB might give you a buck or two?

How about you sign them, and when you get super famous, I sell them to fund my pro-touring cars?

Or if you're keen to just pass them along, I think they would be cool wall art in your office at work, at home or here at the shop. I have a blue plastic tub full to the top with magazines. It took three of us to carry it into the front. But these are older than mine, and thus, would be nicer on the wall. The tub-o-zines I scrounge for cool old tech articles and to find inspiration.

Decoupage. I've seen someone do an entire bathroom wall with old little pages mags. Pretty cool for a shop too!

Funny, cause thats why i saved my mags from the 80's 90's and 00',s, for a collage,

I thought all those guys on the HAMB were so talented that they would rather print and then patina their own rags:D

Most of the guys are pretty good guys. Of course there are the DB's out there that "speak the loudest", like most places. However for some reason this forum (and the other one) don't have "the DB's"!! :hello:

Selling those is no problem and because they'll fit into a USPS flat rate mailer, you can package them up into groups and sell them easily.

If you want to avoid selling fees, then list them on the HAMB or sites like this for free, you'll have no problems selling them...

If anyone could help I'm looking for a magazine called "1001 custom and Rod Ideas" - a popular monthly back in those days. A 1964 edition, I don't know what month but it has a '57 Ford featured - called Top Cat. I'd pay good money for a copy, the car was a friend of mines.

Have you looked on E-Bay? This morning there was over 1400 listings. I didn't look by year or month...

Good luck!

another idea..

If you were going to make a bar top, or anything else in the future. you could lay them in a form, and poor clear epoxy.. ( i think) on them. Your bar would be covered in old magazines.

I'll look at the box i have, from the 60's, but very limited Rod stuff...mostly road & track, and car & driver, and hot rod.

Was it in Hot Rod at all?

I had thousands of car magazines in boxes from the 80's and 90's. They took up a lot of space but I used them as reference for all the good articles in them. Then I started to make photo copies of the articles and put them in binders. But since I started to use the internet more in the 2000's, I looked at my entire collection and into the dumpster they went. Everything that I could possible want to research were at the tips of my fingers and the mags were just taking up space. I didn't want to go through the trouble to find them a new home.
