Tony Huntimer traveled to the Mojave Magnum race, and brought back a rundown of the events along with a bunch of pictures. Check it out below.

A truly amazing feat for a 69 Camaro. Overcoming aerodynamics with massive power. Wow.

You're welcome! It was really cool being there. Nothing like hearing Big Red blast by at 200+ mph! :)

Tony,
thanks for the pics..
I saw Big Red at the Silver State when they
first brought it back.. at that time they were
hitting something like 187 in the standing mile
on some country road

I asked the kid where he was.. he laughed and
said he had college, then law school and finally
done

Just received an email from the Silver State folks
Discovery is going to be filming the Silver State Challenge
May 14-17th for their show Megaspeed so if you are running
then another opportunity to be on TV:)

I would assume Big Red will be there

I think the 218mph is for the mile then 238 for the 1.5

Memph is correct. Our top speed in the Mile was 218.4 mph. The top speed in the 1.5 was 238.1 mph.

We've still got a few tuning issues to fix so we can make a full 10/10th pass. So, we look forward to hitting a higher number in the future.

David,
We read through the article and saw that there were some nice comments about Big Red, so we decided to join the site and chime in. :)

The 238 mph was nice, since it was 4 mph faster than our previous record, but with some of the tuning gremlins...we weren't able to make a full pass. But you're correct. 238 MPH is a great achievement for a brick in the shape of a '69 Camaro! The car was running and all in one piece at the end of the event, so that's a WIN!

We're glad to join a supportive group of enthusiasts.
