Condolences to the Terry family...
-------------------------------------------------------------------

"36-year-old driving instructor at the Richard Petty Driving Experience in Orlando, Florida, was killed Sunday in an accident at the Walt Disney World Speedway. According to reports, driving instructor Gary Terry was riding with a 24-year-old participant when their Lamborghini Gallardo crashed on the track.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that the driver, "failed to maneuver the vehicle through the course," according to reports. The right side of the Lamborghini Gallardo hit a crash barrier at high speeds. The driver was transported to hospital with "minor injuries."

In a statement issued to the media, Petty Holdings said, "Yesterday we lost a longtime, valued team member of the Exotic Driving Experience family. Senior operations manager and professional driving instructor, Gary Terry, was fatally injured in an on-track incident at the Walt Disney World Speedway. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary’s family and friends. He will be sorely missed."

The driving experience allows customers to drive a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 from $339, and the Lamborghini Gallado LP570-4 Superleggera (pictured) from $389. Other cars available for drivers to rent at Walt Disney World Speedway include a Ferrari 430 Scuderia and 458 Italia, an Audi R8, a Nissan GT-R, and a 997-generation Porsche 911.

The 1-mile Walt Disney World Speedway was built in 1995 to host IndyCar races, although IndyCar hasn't raced at the track in several years. According to Florida media, the track, which is adjacent to Walt Disney World, was already slated to close this summer."

Ive done a few exotic car experiences. I was always surprised the cars weren't caged especially given the fact that they'll allow literally everybody with a credit card drive one.

That's what I told my wife. I'm sure it will be closed now.

I saw this on the news last night. Very sad deal.
As stated in the article, the track is closing this summer.

They were driving the Wrong Direction on Track, so the opening in the Guard Rail wasn't protected. The Instructor was a Lead Instructor and should have known better. As an Instructor, I try not to take extra chances with my life and an unsafe Track is one of my No-No's. I also don't right-seat coach anymore.

The Petty Experience allows too many guys with a pulse - they offer no Health Insurance, No Benefits, etc. The Disney Track was going to close in a couple of months anyway - I could see the whole Petty Experience going away too after this.
