After roughly 5 years of attempting to work on my Camaro in my small 1 car garage, I decided to branch out and rent some space.

I'm splitting the cost with a friend, and our rough plan is to get started working on our cars and acquire tools along the way.

Tools we have so far:
-80 Gal Air compressor
-Miller 211 Welder
-very entry level drill press
-very entry level band saw
-basic tools that we have both acquired over the years

Things we are looking to find in the near future:
-bead roller
-metal brake
-TIG
-English wheel (may build)
-Fab Table (will build)

This is a great idea. Just having a space to put the car on a lift and work on it would be worth it. Split the cost with other like minded friends. Turn it into a hangout spot for car guys to talk and work on their cars.

it has been nice, and having a buddy to split the cost definitely helps. We both label our tools and split cost where we need to. like the electric install today.

I recently returned home, Managed to pick up a lift from a buddy who no longer needed it.

Broke it down from his shop and moved it over to mine, these go up pretty easily I was fairly surprised.

either way on with the pics.

So in recent weeks I have sold my house, bought a new one, and now I'm moving my shop to the new place.

The old shop was great but this one is colocated with my house.

It's 28x32 with a finished room over the shop area, ceilings are only 9'8" so I'm going to play with the lift to see if I like it inside or I may mount it on the outside concrete pad.

On with the pictures.

When I bought it, it had a bar area with carpet. Given my 600 sq ft loss I'm taking I chose to remove it

Nice BIG area! Love the floors, wish I had taken the time to do that to mine. I was thinking about that as I was wiping up gear oil yesterday.

I plan on putting epoxy floor covering on my new shop floors as well before moving in. Still haven't decided on DIY or paying a professional though. Please keep us updated on how yours holds up.

Congrats on the new house and the much closer shop area...

Lance,You're building now, correct? I'd ask the builder, if they sealed the concrete(as is common) you may have to wait months to remove it.
I recently epoxied my garage and there are so many variables to the process and strict prepping and coating stages. It's easy enough for anyone to do if they follow the instructions but fresh concrete creates new problems from what I found in my studies.
Saying that, epoxy was the best thing I've done to my garage, I advise against anti slip additives.

New epoxy looks good. Now I will say due to time restrictions and work, I have started moving in a little early, just foot traffic and dollys no cars yet.

However today while unloading my air compressor (solo like an idiot) the bottom kicked out and it fell, smashing the belt guard on my trailer, and putting a pretty good gouge in my flooring(has cured about 3 days now since top coat).

After the swearing and walking up and down the driveway a few times, I checked the damage air compressor is fine, just needs a little straightening out. Floor appears ok, doesn't look like the scratch went through, it's deep but not to the concrete....sooo it work I guess.

The plan in spring is to pull the old paneling, insulate the ceiling and Sheetrock the walls
