I'm here as well. Happen to be sporting my Lat-G tee today too.

I'm reporting for cars and parts mag on the progress.

This is really a first class operation. Bret and his crew have gone above and beyond here. Rolled over with the travel trailer and took my son out of school this week.

Going to be a long couple of days.

:hello: Watching at home in the recliner with fresh coffee........laptop will migrate to the garage before long.

Had no clue I'd be as addicted to this build as I'm am. Chad is doing a great job MC'ing the event. Quite entertaining and more importantly educational.

If you are paying attention to the details, Ridetech is REALLy stepping things up with this build:

Drivebywire throttle pedal
Fire suppression system
Accusump
Racepak Dash
Batttery cutoff switch along with extra ground lugs and leads everywhere
Aluminum shielding above half shafts to prevent damage
Prototype steering box stiffening brace
etc
etc

Along with everything else that anyone that has built a car knows how long it takes to do...

Color me impressed... :gitrdun:

I'm loving watching the wrap - they use the string to pull up and cut around the tight curves. Feels like dental floss....

The quarter panel is going on now - going to head over there and get a closer look

It's very impressive in person too! I'm amazed at the level of the build. They could have easily cut some corners and saved time. But they are doing it right!!! Huge props to everybody wrenching on this 'Vette!

The 56.378HR Corvette build why because they aren't working on an A/F/X body they are working on a Y body.....WHY? Because you have to be a glutton for punishment to own Americas sports car

SSLance

I stayed up watching on my laptop last night until about 11:15 pm my time...on a school night even. This morning my wife asked me why I was so fascinated watching them...

I said "You know, they've got the best of the best in the industry there working on this thing...and to watch them go through the same types of first time fire up frustrations that any of us that have ever built a car from scratch before know first hand...it was captivating..."

And it wasn't like watching a reality or horror show or anything, I truly felt for them because I have been there done that too. I was as happy as anyone for them when Smitty flicked the key and it started cranking like a normal engine. Watching them go through the thought processes of chasing down the problem...when Smitty jumped up and ran across the shop to grab a spark plug socket and ratchet and began pulling the plugs...how many of us have gone through the same types of problem solving on a new build only without a TV camera in our face and a huge countdown clock on the wall?

I wanted to see them make the 48 hour clock but at the same time I liked watching that part of the build almost as much as the rest of it. Nobody got snappy, nobody pushed the cameras away, they all just dug in or rooted on those digging in until the job got done. That was pretty effing cool...

It has certainly been entertaining. Job threatening, but entertaining. I was watching last night and my wife asked me what it was, son started watching then and I sent everyone to bed and stayed up as long as I could. Wife asked what time I came to bed, said 10:45..... she said it was like watching the eagles nest cam. I said better. she just rolled her eyes....

I didn't watch the Camaro, but I'll never miss another one. I just wish I could talk Bret into doing my Chevelle. Only him paying for it and me taking it home. Is that too much to ask? HAHA

That show was just a bunch of car guys getting it. Well, extremely talented car guys.

I had seen and read a bunch of post from Bret and about Bret. He seems top notch. I'll try to afford more parts from him in my build. Well worth the money when you see what he does for the community.:king:

Poor guys are still working on it. Looks like a lot less people on the crew this morning. I feel bad for them - it still looks like they've got a ways to go.

Hope they keep their spirits up and have lots of beer when they finish!

We stopped the live broadcast because frankly, we had to return the rented video equipment. We will provide regular updates with pics and video. We are still working on the car. Recent progress: headlites work, wipers work, e brake works, harness bar in, rear remote shock reservoirs mounted to the harness bar, doors installed, brake line fixed and rebled, console made, seats installed. Next up...install doors, set ride height, do an alignment, weigh car, take to bowling green to chassis dyno at holley. More later...thanks so much for watching!

Good day at the NCM track in Bowling Green. Heres a quicky...the 48 Hour Corvette got dangerously close to my C7 Z07 in autocross lap times. More agressive brake pads, a seat adjustment, and a couple tuning changes will put this car right there. Doug Flynn at Holley and Brian Mason at KY scca are absolute rockstars. Smittys driving doesn't suck either. Heres a pic we took on the road course.

Ok thanks for more video harassment Bret.

Just a couple things to point out

We did not short cut the car anywhere. Me or Bret would not allow it. I have to drive this thing and drive it fast. It is fast. I ran the car flat out on the first lap that's how confident I was in it. I was so confident in it I ran it on the road course with no hesitation at speed.

This build was incredible.

Ridetech shops capabilities are endless!!! I would ask them for a part and poof there's parts.

The car is bad azz.

We will be at the Texas Goodguys event this weekend MArch 20-22, and again the next weekend March 28-29 for the Optima Ultimate Street Car event. We can take passengers at Goodguys but not at Optima, so if you want to ride come to the Goodguys event. If you want to see the car run on the road course, come to the Optima event. Better yet...come to both!

Right now we are trashing to make some minor revisions [that ALL new cars seem to need]...more aggressive brake pads, seat position adjustment, replace a bad power window motor, heat sheilding, finish up the fire suppression system, a thorough wheel alignment, finish the center console.

Along with getting the Corvette ready to go, we are trying to finish up my own 69 Mustang to compete at Goodguys and Optima. Just because we didn't have enough to do

Did you put a Lingenfelter LS in it after the old engine grenaded at Road America?

Did you put a Lingenfelter LS in it after the old engine grenaded at Road America?

No, Lingenfelter built us an aluminum 427W engine with a Dailey dry sump. It made 575hp and 550Tq. I'm looking forward to debuting it this weekend at Texas!

How did it compare on the road course?

We didn't run timed road course laps at NCM because of construction going on with the track...only some spirited lead / follow sprints for video and such.
My semi educated butt dyno tells me that the yellow car will be no slouch. We'll know more after the Texas Optima event this weekend!
