Check out our coverage of the Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car presented by Advance Auto. Scott (Sieg) has outdone himself this time...

Yeah. That grid on the left sure makes it a lot faster to "brief" them. Great job though, there are some great still's in there, I'm sending a few to friends (participants who are not on here, yet)

Thanks for all the great pics Sieg. You can actually see my old home made upper control arms bend in my last speed stop run. New stronger ones are on the way.

Sieg it's clear you enjoy what you do and you're pretty dang good at it! Nice work! A little disappointed I'm the only one that shot B&W....:D

Craig, sorry to hear about the control arm issue. I was talking with your pops about the alignment issues and what may have caused it, must have been before you found the culprit. I've got no doubt you'll make a better V2.0.

Some of the cars aren't running the windshield banner. Was it optional?

I know the last thing that Jimi and the people who run that series are thinking about is decals, but I think a little more thought should go into them. That strip of contingency sponsors has always bothered me. All of the contingency decals should be die cut and individual like every other form of "racing". All that blank white background looks odd on any car but a white one.

The main search for a Ultimate Street car logo on the doors looks fine, it looks like someone spent some time on that one and it has some style.

The windshield banner has always looked out of place to me with the white background also. If it was diecut vinyl similar to what they give you on the hotrod power tour or street machine nationals it would look so much cleaner. Or if it was black with Optima and Advanced Auto Parts logos and was designed to be trimmed to fit the full width of the windshield it would look a lot better, similar to the Pirelli World Challenge Windshield banner.

Just my opinion. I spent quite a few years putting decals on racecars and checking out other cars and the overall package that USCA participants are forced to run just looks a bit off to me. No offense to anyone at the USCA, just constructive criticism. Maybe other people like it the way it is. I think it should look more badass to fit the cars that are running the series. Trim the fat and get rid of all that extra white background.

Visual impairment for taller drivers is one issue.

Great job on the pictures Sieg!

Any competitor at the event should be very thankful that you were there to not only photo document the event but also make the pictures available to them afterward. Huge kudos...

Big fan of all of the dog pictures too...

One can only wonder what this group is discussing... Pretty girls? Mustang suspension parts? Or dividend paying investments? :D

Righty tighty, left loosey...
Trifocals vs bifocals....

This must have been about the time Mike was having issues with stripped out carb bolts. The fix...Greg pulled the carb off of his Mustang and handed it over.

Like I said, the people in this hobby are some of the best! We borrowed tools from a few folks and let some others use our alignment plates and impact. Not a grumpy puss on site. :D

Yeah, I was a little bummed that I broke during the first event, but I got it patched up enough to finish the event and drive home and still had a good time. The car was a little squirrely with no caster. Thanks for loaning the plates to me, saved me from wearing out my tires. I am going to go with the new MOD1 arms from Mike Maier Inc and some double adjustable JRIs.

Thanks.

This was the morning after the carb swap which was done at at warp speed in order for Mike to just make the Road Rally.

Greg's carb was pretty darn good right off the car. This morning session was an effort to accurately jet the carb to insure Mike didn't lean out the motor on the road course. I also learned how funny Mike really is, what a great start to our day.

You can never be too prepared, little things like that can leave you grounded.
