Glad to see more options for mini tubbed first gens, now I just need to decide on one. leaning towards the new Ricks stamped tank cuz I like the fact it accepts late model fuel pumps. Has anyone else looked into these options yet?

1969 Notched Corner Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird Fuel Tank - For Fuel Injection

Interesting. Notched tank, not any narrower across the back end and 1 inch deeper.

What's a stamped tank?

I have used two different Rick's Tank and the quality is fantastic and made of stainless. My latest purchase was a vapor works and uses the 5th gen Camaro pump. I would choose them over anyone else as their customer service is as good as their quality...very high.

Stamped tank is made from a top and bottom stamping and then zipper welded together just like a factory tank is as opposed to completely fabricated from flat stock like your stainless tank is.

Labor and materials are much less when making it this way, so cost is much less.

FWIW, I believe tanks is stamping Aeromotives tanks. Ricks looks like they have their own tooling. There are pros to each one, the Tanks corners are clipped quite a bit more but it looks like the pick up has better baffling.

I have used Tanks Inc EFI set ups in several 1st Gens and they have all been trouble free. The last one was with my built LS7 approx 650 HP

I just received the clipped corner 69 Tank for my new car. Car has DSE Quadralink, mini tubbed and the LS3/525 HP crate motor going in.

The quality of the powder coated tank is great.

Tanks had a vent issue with their 1st Gen tanks that when the tank was full it could vent fuel as pressure in the tank increased. We solved the problem by adding a vent at the top of the filler neck.

Tanks new design has resolved this issue by adding a vent port in the recessed area of the tank.

IMHO getting a show quality Tank that holds approx 18 gals with pump (Walbro which is a good quiet pump) straps, and sending unit for about $600 shipped to your door is a no brainer.

fyi - this tank will not fit cars with relocated leaf springs.

So good to hear, can I ask what size pump you went with for the ls3 525?

Not to hi-jack too bad but he went with the 255lph walbro.

We've sold a couple more beyond what Vegas John & his friend bought from us, everyone is very happy with them.
We have installed several of the non-clipped EFI tanks and there's not much more you can ask for especially for the price of them. Not downing Rick's at all, as their products are also top notch.

255

I ran a 255 in my LS7 car and it performed perfectly.

If I was running over 500 hp and hard tracking I would consider the 400

Looks like a great tank for the price. How do they look when installed? Pic's? Being that they are 1" deeper than stock, do they hang down lower than say a DSE or Vapor Works tanks? Put a lot of money and time making it look nice underneath, don't want to only see a gas tank when looking from behind.

The biggest difference between the two is in the pump system.

Where the Tanks INC uses the Walbro pump and the Ricks is using the Gen5 Camaro, ZL1 or CTS-v pumps. There is an option coming to adapt one or two Walbro pumps to the Ricks tank if you choose.

We have sold a lot of Tanks INC kits to very happy customers. We have had no issues since the venting problems.

The Ricks tanks just came out this week but we all know with their past history, the tank will perform as promised and the Pump Module system offered with the corner pickups has been tested with 1 gallon on the AutoX.

The Ricks tank fits with the relocated leaf springs correct?

No, we have been told by Rick's that it will not clear.

Let me know if you would like to discuss other solutions.
Thanks
