Its true about showcasing the product for the supplier. I had a friend who was going to set me up with paint for my car. I knew I wouldn't be ready for the paint for quite a while so I couldn't show the product like it should be in a timely manor so I held off getting the paint because I didn't want to promise something I couldn't deliver. Which was a good decision because its been a couple of years.
He helped others and some worked out but others ran into the same problem that I had of delays and project put aside for long periods. He ended up getting grief from the paint manufacturer.

There's some truth to that...

Yep, always do what you say you're going to do... and more. Doesn't take long to lose a sponsorship.

to expand on the sponsor question I also have an article about the subject

So You Want To Get Sponsored? Can You Afford It? (http://bangshift.com/general-news/sideways/sideways-with-rodney-prouty-so-you-want-to-get-sponsored/)

and this also leans towards not just the free part but once you get it, can you afford to install it and promote the car/yourself/the product

Good write up! Thanks for sharing it. It is so true, even just trying to get a "discounted" part can be difficult. I live hours away from most shows. When I was at Del Mar last year, we traveled more than we were at the show(2 days travel down and 2 back for a 3 day show). We didn't leave the state, just traveled the entire length of it. That can just flat wear you out, and make it difficult to keep a smile on your face. Along with your fuel bill at the end of the month.....
