Doe's anyone know what has happened to Michael at MCI, I ordered a console back on September 22, 2014 and was told 2 weeks to build and ship, 5 weeks after I ordered I asked for a shipping date (since it was 3 weeks overdue) and received UPS tracking info (that was created almost 2 weeks before) and thought it should be on it's way, but it never shipped and now that were over 8 weeks I can't get anyone to answer my phone calls, return my messages or reply to E-Mails. I'm not trying to give MCI bad advertisement and have ordered other consoles in the past and never had issues, So..is it me or has something happened to MCI ?

Good luck. I ordered a console from them back in July. They wouldn't answer emails or phone calls. Fortunately I paid with PayPal and received a full refund. Helluva way to run a "business"!

If anyone needs a camaro console i have a extra high rise switchblade with a glove compartment i would sell... he does awesome work but i was also a held up for months waiting on promised parts.

Disappointing? LOL Try buying something from him, and have your credit card charged. Then call after a month to find out how it is going and nothing. No response to email, phone, nothing. That isn't disappointing, that is BS!!! I am not so obtuse to think this stuff makes itself, but you damn sure better communicate with me!!

I sent them a mock up for my custom center console about May 2014. we went over every thing that was needed for the build. I was told about a month for completion. A month was up and nothing. I contacted Mike several times and he kept telling me that he was waiting on cup holders and glovebox lid. Anther month passed and nothing I had a family member go to his shop ( a half an hour from them) and see what was going down. When they arrived the shop was no longer there completely emptied out and a dusty little man in the middle of an empty shop sanding a door panel getting it ready to ship, it was Mike he lost his shop and was moving. He told us that he old finish up my stuff and send it out but he would no longer be doing custom work until he he got caught up. We thought that was fair enough and went home. The next week I got a tracking number from him. I was excited it was going to ship! Well I was wrong I am still waiting he has changed his number and I do not have a location of the new shop but I have one more option I cannot shae now but will keep you updated.

I meant disappointing that he wouldn't answer my email. I am looking for info to resolve this. I am in no way defending what's happening, but we're talking about two different things.

Looks like I'm not alone here then, When I was deployed he answered every email and had no problem answering the phone to take my money when I got back... now, nothing. Looks like I better start making my own.

Well this just sucks. I feel for you guys who have been hung out to dry as I have been through this before (with another vendor, not on this board). I was really hoping to get his dash as it is unique and not many others will have it. Looks like I might be fabbing my own as well.

I'm going to continue to try to contact Mike. From what I've seen in past conversations I think he's just way behind, but don't think he's going to screw anyone completely. That's my opinion for what it's worth. No excuse for lack of communication, but I think when he can catch back up he'll deliver the product to those who have paid. I hope I'm right.

Seems to be the norm from him. I had to badger him for months to get my dash. These kinds of things happen way to often. Just because you can make a product doesn't mean you ca run a business. It's unfortunate some of these talented people don't get some basic business lessons before they start. IMO

I cant even Badger him to see what the status is because he won't reply to Emails or answer my phone calls /call me back ...I can be a patient customer just some honest communication is all I ask.

Well Good news and a lot of Irony to boot, I finished making my template today and wouldn't you know it....my MCI console showed up. I put both in to see how they looked but I'm definitely going to use the MCI Gen 2 Stiletto. So regardless of the lack of Communication and a few months overdue, I didn't shafted. Now what to do with the one I started making out of Aluminum.

76orange - glad you got your MCI console. I ordered a console from them in July and still haven't received it. He was doing some custom changes to it so I knew it would take longer. Did you do anything specific to get a resonse from MCI or did the console just show up??

It just showed up, last voicemail I left him I stated I would take a stock one without the modifications if it would help get it to me faster, I got a combination of both...it had been extended 9" like I asked but I wanted the front enclosed and no center storage, I got a center storage compartment and the front wasn't finished....but still I am really happy with what I got and the quality is very nice...maybe this post helped it get done, I'll probably never know...good luck.

Well, I just wanted to post that my console showed up Saturday. I am very, very pleased with the quality of the console. The gelcoat is flawless and it's ready to be scuffed and painted. The wait was long, but worth it to me.

(I posted this on another site as well, just wanted to let people know who have placed orders not to loose all hope.)
I ordered a console for a chevelle back in December around the 20th. I just received it on February 12th. It took a couple of months of calls and txt messages to Mike but he eventually made good on his promise to get it to me. I didn't always get a response to my txt's or messages but Mike was nice to talk to when he did respond. It arrived with no issues or damage from shipping. I took these pictures today.

Still never got my console. (That I ordered on May 26, 2014) Built another one instead and now just want my money back!
Called PayPal they said that he has ten days to respond to their Email and that they will investigate his account. if he does not respond to their email they will shut down his account until my dispute is rectified. I tried many times to contact him to get this resolved and nothing. I hate to have it come to this but I see no other way!

Builds a nice product, just disappeared and dropped promises for quite a while. Wouldn't respond to me either, so it's up to the individual person if they want to order from them.

After reading here and a few other forums I took a leap of faith. I wanted something a bit different so ordered when Mike posted his Memorial Day sale (he posted to Facebook) I have a 67 Camaro and ordered the dash, door & rear quarter panels, center dash & a couple of AC bezels. The center dash and AC bezels came in pretty quick, the door & quarter panels took about 5 weeks and the dash just got here (8 weeks) To be fair, I also called Marquez and they told me 8 weeks too. (but they answer their phone) It all looks very cool and can not wait to install once I get to that point. Similar experience, lack of communication, later than promised shipment, but quality work.
With that, if you used his door panels, did you go with his recommendation of the Smart-Parts door handle? I was looking at the Fesler, like their styles much better.

Well being a business owner myself I know **** happens so what the hell told him I was ready to order. He said doesn't do PayPal or credit card only mail in check. (Which I thought was odd) however took a leap of faith and mailed him a check. After a week goes by I sent an email asking when he might ship the console out so I could schedule my car for interior.. well let's just say it's been over three weeks a few emails and attempted calls still have not gotten back to me!! Now as I said before I know things happen but if you can't communicate with your customers this is a problem!! Especially when I was told console was in stock ready to go!! Hopefully I receive later than never! Just wanted to share with you guys my experience so far.

Yeah, some folks saw me speaking with them on Facebook.
He's saying Dec9 on a complete second gen Camaro - console, dash, door panels and rear panels.
I'd really love to get it, cause then I can do the rest myself. Wouldn't mind a real timeline, with real communication, but not sure I'd get it.
Who is a decent replacement to look at?

I wanna update that I finally received my console today. Was a relief that he came through. The product looks very nice. I have not attempted to install at this point. I think with a little more communication and just be honest with the customers he could make a very profitable business. Just my two cents. He has several more parts for the second gen I would love. But I will wait until i start to see some more positive feedback.

After giving multiple chances to resolve the order I am forced to do the first negative review of a business online. After reading many post about no communication and delayed parts in the past, and several positive stories earlier this year, I decided to chance it and order a console from Michael Ball at modern classic interiors. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS FRAUD!!!!
Facts- On Jan 4th i ordered a single console from him by using the order form on the website http://www.modernclassicsinteriors.com/contact-us.html. The next day i was contacted by phone by Michael Ball from modern classics. There was an issue with the order form. My address did not go through. I gave it to him, and asked him If the console was instock ready to ship. His response was "that there is 4 of them siting on the shelf ready and will ship this week." I explained to him that i rad several negative reviews about shipping time and was assured that was not the case and several years ago. He said he would send a invoice later that day and to send a check. NO paypal, CC or cash. Check only.I thought with was weird but I let it slide. Maybe he is old school and likes paper trails. I finally received an invoice- a microsoft word typed invoice. the chech was mailed and delivery confirmed on the 14th. The check posted to the account on the 18th. I have never received any call, text, or email saying the order had shipped. I called on the 20th at 1541 only to get a voice mail. I left a message. Being friday afternoon I decided I will give him over the weekend. On the 26th at 1504, I placed another call to him. Once again, I received a voice mail. I left one asking for a tracking number. NO RESPONSE. I place another voice call to him on 1-31 at 1328. Again, voice mail and NO return call. I Used the contact us form on the website to send him a message trying to get a hold of him. AGAIN its 2-09-17 and I have not heard ANYTHING ALL all after payment was cashed.
It appears the facebook page is down or I am blocked from it. Why I dont know because no message was sent through social media of any kind.
I WARN ANY AND ALL to stay VERY FAR AWAY from this COMPANY. It appears that there are several companies using the same number, email, or address on business licenses. The company does not show up in the business records in FT wayne,that i can find online, unless the name has changed again.
I am out 514 dollars and time to complete this car. The interior is the last thing to be done and is waiting on the console to go to the upholstery place. I will be perusing legal means or recovery but I CAUTION EVERYONE.......DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MODERN CLASSICS, MODERN CLASSIC INTERIORS OR ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH MICHAEL G BALL IN FT WAYNE INDIANA WITH THE NUMBER OF 260-442-8382.
I would like the console sent or money returned immediately. Really I would like the product I paid for.
A complaint to the BBB of indiana was filed and Will try to call bank about funds but being a check i doubt they will be able to do anything .
again NO BUSINESS WITH MODERN CLASSICS....... I will update with any change that come in the future.

Your story is exactly the same story I had! I have tried to worn everyone of this shady operation! But I see ppl still taking chances. I would say stay after him that's what I did and after 2 months I finally received my console. Good luck and I hope you get it brotha!!

I ordered a complete kit for my 73 Camaro, I just received the dash and door panels Thursday. The console and back side panels should be here in the next week or two. Ill let you know when they show up.
This is the third time I've used Modern Classics. Ive waited on some of the parts in the past, but they always seem to deliver exceptional parts.
I think your assessment of Mr. Ball is way off.

NO he's spot on!!! Every forum you can find negative feedback!! Its been the same story for a few years with this guy! Total fraud. That's why he only excepts checks. Because if you use PayPal, credit card you can file dispute and get your money back.

I haven't had the opportunity to meet anyone from Modern Classics in person, just on the phone. My experience with Modern Classics was different.
My projects aren't time sensitive, so waiting for the parts isn't a problem.
Im curious if anyone has been ripped off by these guys. If so I would like to know about it. I joined this forum to see if i could find a composite headliner for my 73. I am a busy man, I'm don't waste much time online, This is just a research outlet. Im not looking for an argument. I simply don't agree.

It's a tough position to be in. Michael G Ball will tell you anything you want to hear, or not communicate at all for months at a time.
I received most of my order two weeks after I was supposed to.
It's been 3 months waiting on my rear panels I paid 500.00 for.
I have sent multiple email, left voice mail and even a Facebook post that was deleted - I got blocked from posting there. Interesting thing is that he posted a different/new email address in lieu of a response to my request.
Eventually, I had to contact local law enforcement and funny, I got this response on Friday, 2/10/2017:
"Your rear panels will be shipped out Today or tomorrow. The guys at the shop made molds off of your parts. Sorry for the delay.
Sent on the new Sprint Network
"
This is from his old email address.
Now if "the guys at the shop" were using my panels to make molds from, that is something that should be communicated... at any point during the time elapsed.
I'd love to find the shop that's doing these for him. If it's his shop, he should hire someone to manage the business. They make an awesome project. He's just a ****ty communicator and I don't like to gamble on timelines.

As it turns out, local law enforcement hadn't contacted him. That was today.
I replied to his Friday email saying they'd ship Friday or Saturday today to ask about tracking.
Edit to add:
He has at least two business' - the other one is Velocity Engineering. I don't think they make the parts, either. I think it's his design firm, where they may build a prototype or two. He lists himself as owner/lead designer there

He has other shops make the products, when he gets them back he final details and ships them out. He is at the mercy of the other shops. When I went looking for him,I caught him in the process of moving his shop and found out how his operation works (at least back then). take it for what it worth, thats just my experience.

After many more unanswered calls, emails, BBB complaints, bank complaints etc, I answered the door to a box with the console I ordered. There was no reciept, invoice, etc on the box other than the shipping tag. It was well packed and console looks great. I still have not had contact with anyone from them after my original call.
If this company would communicate better, return calls or emails, and keep accurate shipping times then they could not make stuff fast enough. Work is fantastic for fiberglass work, poor communication.
Having said that, If you want to order from them, its your choice but I would suggest ordering at the beginning of your project and forgetting you ever ordered it. It may arrive in a week or months later but the work, when you receive it is fantastic.
