Mid 40s is a heat wave for us right now,I hate this especially since we still have to paint the siding. Shop is 42x42 with 12' ceilings. Stay warm!:fire:

Well I finally got the walls insulated over the holidays. Used a hammer stapler worked great. Had visions of stapling my forefingers with that thing but all I got was a couple blood bllisters. What a pain in the ass.:buttkick:

Used those A LOT when I was a pyro.... we'd cover the mortar boxes with plastic. I put a couple of those staples in my wrist... by that time in the build my hands and arms hurt so much I hardly noticed. LOL

Well progress is slow but it is still progress. All I have left to do is tape drywall (ugh) paint, finish hanging fixtures, hang heater, and blow insulation in ceiling. Then I can work on the car!

I like the ceiling you put in. The gloss will make the lights more effective.
Are you coating the floor with anything?
RdHuggr68
08-15-2015, 05:57 AM
I like the ceiling too, it is a lot lighter than rock, no taping, sanding, painting. I am not coating the floor this year, I want to get going on the car so it is done by late spring of 16 ( I hope) :G-Dub:

Knowledge of installing it would have been helpful 41' walls, now I have one wall with vertical cracks at the joints in one location from floor to ceiling. I am now repairing it with the expansion joint metal. It never ends.

Yes, knowledge is key...with anything and everything.
We pre-fill all joints with hot mud. Then start the taping process. This fills the voids between the sheets with a hard material. Really helps not get cracks later on. With that said, sometimes you have an area in the structure that just wants to move a tad, and it will always crack. I have one in my own house! Repaired it to the extreme and the next season it cracked! Expansion joints are good in these areas. We use them on plaster jobs at door headers, ect.
Shop looks great!

Great looking shop, the wife and I have talked about moving from Denver out your way so we could build a bigger shop, or maybe that was just me talking to myself...regardless good luck with the project.

Nice size shop.
We just did some remodeling. I hate doing drywall, and because I like the look way better, we went with the 'shiplap' look, butting up non-tongue & groove 1x6 boards up against each other.
But on a big shop like that it I guess it wouldn't be price friendly.

Come on out, the only thing that sucks is the commute, all I have left on the shop is getting it organized. We have been out here 3 years in Feb. and I am still hauling boxes out of the basement to the shop, I still have half my Camaro parts in the basement.

Thanks Skip, I staked it out 3 times and stood in the middle and each time it seemed so small, so I kept enlarging it, thats probably why my car isn't done yet.
How about some interior pictures of your shop?
