Is there anyone who is into slotcars here?

I have "wasted" many hours when I was a kid to slotcar driving. :D

Me and a buddy made a table in his garage this other day.
Around 12 x 8.5 feet, rounded from meters :)

I bought a new Scalextric track, and they go way faster (too fast) and without magnets have much less traction than my old cars and track... Was a bit dissapointed by that, anyone know of any good tips and tricks for non-magnet racing?

Hopefully we will have some good races trough the winter :)

No Slot Car fans here? We have soon everything up, with fuel consumption, tire wear that changes the cars behaviour and everything, soon I am a full blown SlotCar geek, if not already.. HeHe :D

It is not like this, but maybe sometime, that would be cool!

That is pretty cool.
The night time driving was awesome.

I've got a old Strombecker Track. I have a Bunch of old Cox SlotCars - Chaparral, Cheetah, Lola and some New Ones that are Blazing Fast

On the fence about tearing down the track in my loft. My boy uses it once or twice a year, I'm more than that but not by much.
Straight a way is 10'
We added sticky tires and lowered the magnets, and bigger motors on a few.
So fast its hard to watch. LOL Still nothing compared to the clear bodied ones.

I was into 1/24 slot car racing in a big way back in the day.

I'm talking about the mid to late 60's.

We had a local track that was about 200 feet in lap length. It used 3 bus batteries for power.

I spent a lot of money there. lol.

As far as in-house private tracks, not so much.

Nice, keep it, change layout or something new to see if it gets more fun, we are gonna turn the power down though, and drive without magnets.

The track is at my buddys garage, we made it hang in the ceiling so he can winch it up and down so it does not take up place when not in use, it is not finished yet, but the table and winch system is working now. Maybe you can do the same if you need the space?

They are too crazy fast stock with magnets! And those clear bodied competition guys with those insanely fast cars, here I hear people call those cars "Door-Stoppers" HeHe.. I guess they look like that, I dont understand how they can follow them around the track.

These are those "Door-Stoppers", they are Insanely fast!!

I guess the fun is more about making the cars work and handling rather than racing. But Holy-DoorStopper-Speed! those are some fast things!

I have an old Strombecker track from the 60's as well. Have not pulled it out in 15 years. Makes me want to set it up. Need to track down the tabs that hold the track together and some new cars.

I thought about a folding table, as you can see my loft is pretty tight.
As of now the table top collects stuff. (As well as dust)
One of the more fun to race cars is an old skinny tired Corvette. Downrite squirlly. Fast once it gets a grip, fishtails all over. We see who can get the most laps w/o flying off the track. :D
I'll snap more pics soon.

One of my Chaparral's is modified with big stickies in the rear and it will pull wheelies forever!

At one point I was going to put the track together and put it on the wall of my garage for wall art. Now I may have to start racing it again.

Autocross layout, seems like a space saving track for those with space-problems, like myself.. I have not made this by the way.
I guess you can only race on time though.
