So I've picked up a 68 Camaro and have an LS7 in transit.
Focusing on the DSE subframe but no commitment.
Reading the install instructions from DSE is see there is a choice of engine mounts. 060401 puts the engine in stock position 060404 moves the engine 1 inch back.
Here are the questions.
1. Using mount pn 060404 (needed to use the very proud, but beautiful, DSE headers) am I going to have significant tunnel fabrication for a tremec 6??
2. Using mount pn 060401 and the ultimate LS swap header (swept back header) will I have any significant tunnel fab w/ the T56?
2a. Will the stock dry sump oil pan fit without sitting lower than subframe or clearance issues with the subframe? If not, who makes a dry sump pan that works?
2b. Looks like plenty of clearance for the steering rod but haven't seen pics, an issues there?
2c. Will the stock Z06 low A/C compressor mount work with the 060401 engine mount? or am I headed for a $2500 front runner anyway.

Any other words of wisdom would be appreciated
Thanks in advance Dave

According to DSE's site you need to use the 60404 mounts for the LS7 oil pan. I have a 2nd gen and used the stock LS7 pan with my old engine and the height wasn't an issue. I highly doubt the stock a/c location is going to work unless you notch the crossmember but you may be able to buy a relocation bracket from the aftermarket like Holley, Kwik, .... etc. Keep in mind that you will have to replace the compressor, the stock LS compressor is variable displacement and will not work with aftermarket a/c.

Thanks Tim for the info.
Maybe I'm wrong but it looks like I can use either engine mount with the stock oil pan.

LS7*
DSE P/N: 060401 (Positions engine in a stock position)
Oil Pan: Stock GM Oil Pan
NOTE: Use GM P/N: 25534412 or Peterson Fluid Systems for dry sump fittings
to drain oil pan
or
DSE P/N: 060404 (Moves engine rearward from stock 1”) Stock GM Oil Pan

My biggest concern is not having to fabricate the tunnel to fit the tremec.
and by using the 060401 with the Ultimate swept back headers avoid tunnel mods.
By using the 060401 what other fitment issues will find?
By keeping the engine in "stock position" with the 060401 mount will it allow for a low mount large sanden compressor without frame mods?

I would call/e mail DSE and ask. I'm going off of what's in my 2nd gen which I believe has the engine placed farther to the rear. My concern with the 1st gen is the engine is located farther to front of the car and the LS7 oil pan has 2 drain plugs, one of which is in the front of the sump area. I would plan on tunnel mods to optimize the driveline angle regardless of the mounts used, it's really not that big of a deal to mod the tunnel.

Here's a pic my old engine with the stock pan in my 2nd gen.
