In the crunch to get various vehicles together for the upcoming SEMA show, we wanted to put together a thread of pics previewing some of the small details that go into the cars we are building for the show and a bunch of teasers for the upcoming vehicles we have not revealed yet...

We will kick off with 2 for today!

Thx for the reference. It looks like all in house. I suspect there are two ways of doing it, (1) mold and resin and (2) CNC a block of plastic resin. Looking at the build pics you referenced it looks like they were CNC from two pieces with a stock clear light diffuser in the lower piece.

Thanks. The Chevelle has a ton of unique styling and components. It was quite a challenge to put a modern spin on something that, as the owner put it, has the style and body lines of a mattress! There was a lot of sentimental value with that particular car and he had a good vision on where he wanted the car to go. I think we exceeded our own expectations on this build.

Greening Auto Company machined the tail lights and tail panel for the car. The main panel and trim piece were machined from aluminum. The lenses were machined from acrylic then had custom LED boards and diffusers built in from the backside. Greening also did the 1-off wheels and a few other components on the build that we will highlight later on. We have machined a lot of components in house for this and the other cars we will unveil at SEMA. The greening crew is great to work with and are incredibly talented.

Probably one of our biggest drives is not just coming up with a cool idea, but actually executing the final design and engineering as close to the concept as possible. Not an easy thing to pull of when parts and pieces reach high levels of intricacy. For example, the tail panel piece you will see in detail for the '64 Chevelle looks really clean and fairly simple in appearance. It's actually made up of 38 individually machined pieces, led boards, lenses and 136 pieces of hardware!

Today's pic: 3 machined pieces we dubbed the 'pringles'.

Thanks Wayne!
As Phil touched on earlier, the '64 convertible body wasn't something we had considered 'sexy' until we started getting into it.

Much of the cars original 'features' were really concentrated in the tailpanel and front fascia. When you analyze it a little, it is actually a fairly modern styling principal to have much of the vehicles character in the headlight/grille area and rear with clean body lines through the mid section with little fuss added. (Think Audi, Porsche etc) This offered up a really nice platform to add some nice contemporary cues and really tighten up the styling of the car. We will absolutely do a full build thread (http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=40889) update after the big reveal!

It's really a styling piece. With all the effort on the rest of the car, the original one looked a little out of place. The billet piece will compliment other fabbed pieces on the motor.

When all you all see this car you are going to be shocked at how low this car is. I'm not sure I could get a 2nd gen with Air Ride this low when it's air'd out and this is the ride height of this car. This car looks like an beast sitting still.

The roof and the tail panel are very well executed I am certain it will be copied by a few builders in the future.

Its the same unit they use in F1. This one was made by McLaren.

As for the color- the led's are incredibly bright so they can appear as a whole spectrum of colors in pictures.
