We are currently building this '67 Nova for a local customer. It will debut at SEMA '14!!!

I've been a big fan of the forum, and thought I would share some build pics of this project!

It started out as a simple job that the owner just wanted to "repaint"... He bought the car online... (you know where I'm going with that...) After looking at the car I knew that it had some issues, but I didn't quite expect it to be as bad as it was... Its amazing what some people are okay hiding/ selling.

Heres where it started:

We got some of the bad sheetmetal out of the way

Like others said . . . looks amazing! Sure you didn't mean SEMA '15? SEMA '14 is in 45 days so I will watching this one come together in a hurry. 67 Nova is one of my favorites and looks like you are building an extremely nice one.

V-bands is a good idea on the exhaust. Have them right behind the mufflers on my '68 Camaro and is making it easier (for the shop) to pull the exhaust system while the rest of the car is being worked on.

Looks like you just skip welded the firewall in? Is that the finished welding for it or did you weld the seam 100% all the way around? Or do you fill in between those skip welds with a sealer and call it a day?

The metal work is very nice, I love the way the front inner fenders sweep inwards. :popcorn2:

This build started off in 2011 and has been kept highly under wraps until the final days of the build... which is NOW!. The goal of the build was simple... Make the meanest, most badass 67' SS this forum has ever seen. No, not the most expensive... no not the prettiest daisy duke... but the most Unique, Fab Focused / Performance Driven Street Machine we could possibly manufacture with a blue collar's income and a new and upcoming fab team at J-Rod and Customs. We have been incredibly lucky to have the support of Art-Morrison Co., Mast Motorsport, Rushforth Custom Wheels, Jason Rushforth Design Team, Classic Instruments, McFarland Upholstery, Optima Battery, ProGlass, American Powertrain, Baer Brakes, etc. What a truly amazing experience this has been and it is an honor to finally have the opportunity to share everyones hard work and dedication. As much as I hope everyone will enjoy these next few days as we slowly release this build to the public, I would highly suggest that if you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity please come see the car in person at SEMA in little over a month for its debut. The car is truly remarkable and the story behind the build is just as cool! Thank You again to everyone who has been apart of this build. I have to mention an incredible Thank You to Jason Rushforth (Design) and Jared Hancock (Fab Genius who I will no longer be able to afford after this car is released!) Thank You and enjoy! Alan Holland, Car Owner

We hardlined the heater and A/C lines inside the inner fenders, and hide the dryer and trinary switch in the front corner. worked out pretty well... http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/fiveone00/67%20Nova/IMG_1794.jpg (http://s461.photobucket.com/user/fiveone00/media/67%20Nova/IMG_1794.jpg.html)

We got the car off the table and started fab in the chin spoiler as well as finished the front bumper! The bumper is now 1 3/4" narrower, the ends are completely different, they fit perfectly flush with the fender and also carry the body line to match, and the center has been peaked (shaving front license plate area).

We also made a part that goes across, under the grill to divide the bumper and grill..http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/fiveone00/67%20Nova/IMG_1661.jpg (http://s461.photobucket.com/user/fiveone00/media/67%20Nova/IMG_1661.jpg.html)

The wheels are 18x9 front and 19x10 rear. They're our mockup wheels (the center rim isn't welded, so we can set them up for different cars...)

About mid way through bodywork, we decided the hood needed something...

We installed some vents... Its crazy how much this changed the car! It looks 1' wider than a stock Nova!
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/fiveone00/67%20Nova/CBF0655B-7A74-4F44-9287-3AFAE171C6BF.jpg (http://s461.photobucket.com/user/fiveone00/media/67%20Nova/CBF0655B-7A74-4F44-9287-3AFAE171C6BF.jpg.html)

The hood was challenging...! Cutting and welding two large areas on an old hood skin, and trying to make the bottom structure look factory.

Once I got the structure fab done, we cleaned the bottom of the hood skin and sealed it. Most of the ares would be impossible to get to after the structure goes on.

This is by far the most tedious/ time consuming car we have ever bodyworked! It looks so simple and square, but every edge, corner, and bodyline are as straight as they can be! We used a laser to make sure the bodyline was straight, it was difficult to "eye ball" with the crown of the quarters...
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/fiveone00/67%20Nova/B57F5F22-07C9-4038-8B15-ACA2415AA9BC.jpg (http://s461.photobucket.com/user/fiveone00/media/67%20Nova/B57F5F22-07C9-4038-8B15-ACA2415AA9BC.jpg.html)

We had acrylic blocks machined with a sharp profile of the bodyline.
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/fiveone00/67%20Nova/IMG_2064.jpg (http://s461.photobucket.com/user/fiveone00/media/67%20Nova/IMG_2064.jpg.html)

With the car is in its first prime, we took it to McFarland Upholstery to have him get started on panel and seat fabrication.

With the entire car painted, we sanded it down flat, and assembled the body. We are adding an asymmetrical stripe on the hood and trunk with a stripe running low on the sides... Jason Rushforth did a killer job on many of the subtle design features throughout the car.

Good eye!

The COE is a project I'am doing for a friend of mine (in my free time, witch I don't have much of lately...) He has a lot of heavy equipment and wants the truck very usable. We put the cab on a newer Isuzu chassis (turbo diesel), and we will be stretching it 30" for a rear seat.

Thanks,

After the body was painted and graphics were on, we sprayed all our satin colors... The engine bay is two toned black and body color with our stipe color splitting them up, then a satin clear over everything...

Stoked to see Jared and this project finally getting seen and receiving all the love they deserve.

Thanks to Alan for seeing this thing through and trusting me to do the designs and a huge thank you and tons of props to Jared for always letting me run with it and then being as insanely talented as he is trusting and being able to make anything I draw. Jared is one of my best friends and then he also happens to be one of the most talented people I know so helping him with this car has been a total pleasure and privilege.

What about the underside of that hood? Is that amazing or what? "oh, I'll just build a new under-structure to clear and accommodate the vents" What? How? Go to his website and see how he did it on the 69 Camaro we did together 7 years ago!

We always try to simplify an engine without covering anything up... I like to mount the LS coils down at the oil pan, this allows the plug wires to stay concealed between the headers and the block.

Looking really nice. I like the coil relocation idea, cleans up the engine bay a lot. How are you going run the coil harnesses? Underneath the headers to the block or down by the oil pan?

Hey Jared coil bracket looks great! Is it a tight to get the harness onto the coils? It looks like a tight squeeze.

Its tight for sure.. The bracket will drop down with 4 bolts if needed...

Heres a pic with the wires connected, They route up the side of the engine, behind the starter.

The show was amazing, what a big year!!! I still can't believe we got a GM design award!!! Being in the same room accepting an award that shops like the Ring Brothers, Roadster shop, And Detroit speed were also getting was crazy! What an honer!!!

It was great to meet everyone from Lateral-G that came over and introduced themselves! I'm not sure why it took me so long to get on here... Great group of people!!!

Well we made it back safe... And I thought we better celebrate and clean off the tires!!!

Beautiful Car! You're my kinda guy, I think you missed a spot on the left rear tire. Better do it again!

Do you have any finished under hood shots?

Your design award was well deserved! Congrats!

Thanks a lot!!!

The colors are both factory GM, Cyber grey and Atomic orange.

Thanks! I really like what the polished splitter did for the car too... It really added good detail, but kept an aggressive look.

Alan has been getting some miles on the Nova now that the weather is getting better! The car has been great to drive! The power is nuts, it doesn't matter what gear you're in... it pulls HARD!!!

I saw this work of art in Chelan a few weeks back, Jareds attention to detail is amazing! This car kept bringing me back, and Jared is a stand up guy to boot! I was the guy looking at it, asking all the questions, with the 69 Camaro convertible in a million pieces. I need to get ahold of you and further discuss you finishing my car for me! Thanks again for your time and patience!

Looks like that picture was taken at Orondo Cider Works? If I'm not mistaken that's the 97A tunnel in the back ground? Awesome car, no amount of words can accurately describe it!

Saw this car at goodguys pleasanton.
Definitely my all time favorite nova and the best car there.
Loved the color combinations.
Are all the engine accessories painted black or did they come black?
If so what vendor?
Thanks

Wow! Thanks a lot!!!

The accessories are all painted black. We started with a Vintage Air Front runner system anodized black. But the alt, compressor, and PS pump all come with a natural finish...

Congratulations on the awards in Pleasanton, well deserved! One of the best things about this car is watching others take in all the details....and then watching when the owners son walks up and opens the door and climbs inside! OMG! What is that kid doing? Haha!

Any updates on the IRS 69?

68-69, 220-221 whatever it takes. Camaros are like white people....they all look the same! I'm looking forward to the updates, more for the wicked fabrication then the car itself.

Thanks now I know what I need to do.
I'm a painter so that won't be a issue.
What brand paint are you guys spraying?
Is there already a build thread for the Camaro?
Curious to see what you guys do with that.
I have my own 69 camaro project but when you do this trade for a living it's very hard to want to work on your own stuff on weekends.
