Lord, that many cars on 441N will be a nightmare. I think the number leaving here will be about half that. The official picture taker (Photoline) rents from me. I will talk with him later and see how many pictures he took of cars leaving. That will be a close head count. I think today we will take a small detour and not get hung up in the traffic. In a couple days they will iron out all the traffic details, but I look for today to be rough. See everyone in gainsville.

You'll learn very quickly to skip the drivers meetings and hit the road early. Much nicer drive that way and still tons of cool cars on the road.

Why no west coast power tour?Anybody have a idea why?

If I remember right (and I might be wrong) I think the first one started in California I believe San Bernardino. They should switch off every other power tour. For me to do power tour now I need to drive 3000 miles, do the power tour, then drive 3000 miles back. Long long long haul group. Im still planning on doing it next year if no west coast start location.

I would be all over a West Coast Power Tour too but if you looked at a map of Hot Rod subscribers as well as people that patronize the hot rod aftermarket, it would be predominantly East of the Mississippi.
Just look at the attendance numbers at GoodGuys Columbus and NSRA's Louisville shows.

Maybe another puplication could organize some type of tour on the west coast.I don't think they need 5000 entries to make it a success.
We could run up the coast or right up through the high speed desert. The coast would be better I think, there isnt much out in the desert.Say Las Vegas up to Washington maybe....just a thought.

Man that sounds like a hell of good time!!! What does it usually cost to go on that from start to finish , with motel, meals ,fuel and etc.???

I'd definately do a West Coast Tour. Thats one of the main issues about doing the Power Tour now for me. What is it, a week long. Not to mention having to come all the way back to San Francisco.

Just a thought but what if a bunch of the members from the forums got together to do their own sort of Power Tour but call it something else of course. Start off with a track day at Infineon or another location and keep it going from there. Every year these things get bigger, why not. Several members belong to numerous forums it wouldn't be too hard to get the word out. Setting up the events is a whole other subject for me though. Imagine a Lateral-G/Pro-Touring.com West Coast run. You've got to start somewhere. The East Coast would have their annual run along with the Midwest/South regions.

Saw you and datsbad when you backed in by Charley yesterday. You looked busy so I did not want to bother, but the car sounds and looks awesome. I took a picture of my son next to it. I am bummed that I did not get my car done, but you guys have a great (and safe) Power Tour.

Hey Bill -
It was finally great getting to meet the man, the myth, the legend. Thanks for taking the time to say hi. My son thinks your car is the best. He wants a 1/18 scale metal model of it!! Hope you guys have a blast on the tour !

(Hopefully the car will at least be ready for the Pigeon Forge run in Sept)

My guess is the Power Tour will be back to the West Coast next year or 2008.
The Tour has crossed the country to the East Coast and it's almost time for it for it to come back where it started.

My lord, More myth that legend. Great to meet you too. It is hard to keep up with everyone, and remember names with faces, but I usually get it, about the third try.....lol
The car did fine again today, just a blast to drive on the road.I hope to see you in the Forge in Sept.

There seems like less people this year then last. They did not sell the event out. I heard next year it will start in New Jersey and end in the Southwest. Anybody planning to do a mini tour....Don't have a track event on the first day. Have it the last day so if you break it you won't miss the trip.

Jake, you got a whole year now, get the car finished. I promise the power tour is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on.
It will be for you next year like it was for me this year. Hard to pass up when it is close to home. I am having a blast. :captain:

I'd love to do a smaller Western tour of some sort. We could shoot a couple episodes of V8TV on the road featuring the cars and the trip. Maybe Phoenix to Vegas to Glenwood Springs. Who wants to go and when?

I drove up to Greensboro, NC Friday and I saw lots of hotrods and a few cobras. It made me miss my FFR cobra replica but oh well.

How about the beginning of August? I realize that's the hottest time of the year to go through the Southwest, but I'm going to need a little time to get ahead of the game.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking we could kickoff at Baer and go from there. I'll have to talk to them to see if that would be cool, but I can't see why they wouldn't like a visit from their target market.
