Disney World vacation-recommend a place to stay

Hi guys,

We'll be driving to Orlando for a Disney World vacation at the end of this year, and I need a recommendation on a hotel to stay while we're there. We will be visiting Disney's Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so I'd prefer we stay close by. Looking on hotels.com, there are dizzying choices of hotels ranging from $200/night to $800, so any tips/advice from anyone who had done similar vacation is greatly appreciated.

Our girls are 6 & 4 if that matters.

I looked into Disney resorts, and they're all sold out, other than the $800/night option. :disgusted: Honestly, I love my kids, but not that much. :G-Dub:

there should be some time shares in Orlando. You can save $$ of food cost by cooking there.

One thing about staying on their resort properties (Disney's) is you pretty much have to take the bus every where, It worked out pretty good for us when my wife and I went in October.
we stayed at the animal kingdom lodge and loved it. She just went back with our 20 year old daughter and they stayed at the All Star Music (Disney's) resort and they loved it. I wanna say it was 250-300ish a nite...

We stayed here.. http://www.wyndhambonnetcreek.com/ set it up for a 1 week stay. Easter week.. we loved it. great location.. inside the Disney park.. so its a quick drive to any park. there are 4 or 5 swimming pools on the property.. you share them all.. two have a lazy river and pool, the other a pirate ship and water slide, the other a lounge pool.. bars and restaurants by each. also Minituare golf. Oh.. important.. do not sign up for any tour/presentation.. and try not to give them your room #, as they'll call about you buying a time share. They asked a few times, called the room, but then backed off.

this place has 2 options.. you can book at the Grand Wyndham.. of which you pay good money, for a hotel type stay.. or you can book a suite for even more money. :G-Dub: ..

We book it thru a private individual, and it averaged about 200/night for a 2 bedroom suite, full kitchen, dining area, living room. Super nice. We travel a few times a year.. I know the difference.

Oh., if you have little ones.. say 12 and under.. you should try staying a day or so at the nickelodeon Suites resort. http://www.nickhotel.com/
we did 2 nights there.. when we initially arrived.. they loved it.. Room was avg. had a small kitchenette, reasonable and fun day and night for them.
spent one good day there, left in the am for Disney, and set up in our other place in the afternoon.

"Two bedroom Villa". Two bedroom, two bath apartment with kitchen and washer / dryer next to the pool. 15 minute drive in the morning to Disney, farthest park was about 30 minutes. We stayed a week. We did three days at Universal, and four at Disney. The rate was about $200 per night. We only packed about three days worth. Washer and dryer were relatively small but worked. We went to the parks super early, and left mid afternoon. Each day we had the kids strip down and hit the pool. Clothes went straight into the washer. Some days I went back in the evening with the older kids. There was a grocery store and a super Walmart within a few miles. Almost all our dinners we ate small meals in the apartment. Big lunches, a lot of fluids, and lots of snacks at the parks.

This is NOT Sheraton Vistana Villages; crazy that they have two resorts a few miles apart with very similar names.

We followed the guide from undercover tourist and were very pleased with the results. We used the website and I-phone app to plan our days in the parks. Certain days are busier for certain parks, we always stayed away from the busiest park and it worked very well for us. We would go to a park, and it would not be that crowded and the web app even showed wait times for rides and such. It was usually pretty accurate. https://www.undercovertourist.com/skip-the-lines/

have you tried airbnb.com?

You might be able to rent someones whole place for the trip at a lower rate then hotels. Might come in handy if you are going to prep your own food and would like a place to chill out away from the 24/7 dizzyness of disneyland.

Well guys, got replies back from my inquiries. The cheapest rate in the area I want to stay is $288/night. I guess that's the price to pay for traveling in peak holiday season. :G-Dub: Got the room booked at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. :thumbsup:

Now just have to find deals on Disney World tickets.

We also saved $ by doing their meal packages. Also, we planned special events, like breakfast with a character, and that got us into the parks an hour before they opened. That was great for starting the day on the best rides with no wait times. You have to book those early as they fill up quickly. Make sure to get the most recent park guide that is out. They really come in handy.

Kill 2 birds with one stone....stay at the Hard Rock next to City Walk and Universal Orlando. Make you day trip to Disney and walk to Universal

Rooms are nice and you can take a water taxi (free) or a 3 minute walk to get to Universal theme park and they have a big Harry Potter deal there as well. Lots of great reasurants and shops.
