View Full Version : Stainless Works Headers for LS 69 Camaro

After battling an unsuccessful set of ls swap headers for 1st gen camaro I went to Henson Supercars and they set me up with a set of stainlessworks headers. These headers are the way to go! I made my own engine/trans mounts to get the engine as low and far back as possible without cutting up the firewall and they still cleared my control arms and steering box perfect! Only problem is the tip of the z-bar of the clutch fork side is rubbing one of the tubes, I might just switch to hydraulic so its not a big deal.

Here is a picture of my first set of "direct fit" swap headers, they hit the steering box bad and the passenger upper control arm

And the stainless works

Night and day difference in the clearance (and price) but I think they are well worth it! Hope this helps out someone else before they get cheap "swap" headers like I did.

The stainless works headers are killer! Got mine through speedtech :)

I have the same headers as well through Speedtech along with their front clip and rear suspension.

Just wondering if you have a photo illustrating the slip fit connectors with the clamps. Mine is leaking from the connectors because they have removed several times and joints became enlarged a bit

I'll take a pic for you today. They look like the same slipfit used on the 5th gen. I think I have a spare set from my headers I didn't use, I'll check.

Thanks alot for the photos. I noticed that the O2 sensors are welded to the stepped connectors(assuming these are the connectors not a portion of the cat back that is going to be welded to the stepped portions)

The clamps you have are different than mine. I will try to take some photos and send them to you for comparison purposes.

Sorry for the crapy photos. The above photos show the type of the clamps I have, and the last photo illustrates the carbon deposition at the area where the leak is.

I am wondering if I get a wider clamp to press the little openings from which the exhaust leaks.

Ditch those clamps, the chevy dealer should have some like mine. I put some headers and magna flow exhaust on a 5th gen camaro and if I remember correctly it reuses the factory clamps that look just like the one I got from stainless works. I know SW changed their design so they probably don't even sell the older style horseshoe clamps. Maybe they will send you some new clamps but that should fix that leak, hope this helps.

The stepped sections came with the headers and already had the 02 bungs welded into them
