So as I am starting to get the ball rolling on getting the body straight and rust free on my Bird.
I was looking around at the tons of options for body panels. I was curious if anyone knew who sold good panels that wont cost my body man a ton of time fitting.
I asked him if he knew which were good, but he said usually the customer brings him the stuff, but that he had good experiences with Dynacorn stuff
Any advice here?
If its going to save me money in the long run, I would rather spend a little more up front.
I usually get coupons from places like Classic Industries, but Im not too sure about the quality of their components
Thanks

AMD sells direct or look to the left <<< at some of the site sponsor to get pricing. Don't think for a minute you won't have to cut and fit any sheet metal you get. They all have some issues and it's not just the parts sometimes it's the car their going on. I've had qtrs on the same car and one side fit with no issue and the other side needed all kinds of cutting and reshaping.
As Mark said it's hit or miss as to if you got the good part out of the press or the one that moved during the stamping.
Also remember AMD doesn't make all the parts, some they sell are from other company's so make sure to ask if it's an AMD parts or not.

yea just trying to look for the most accurate panels.
I have heard some horror stories and didnt want to save 50$ on the panel only to pay 150$ in labor to fit the panel.
I noticed that AMD doesnt make too much of the Firebird panels, most of them listed on their website were other manufacturers.
One of the PY members said the new Dynacorn stuff is really great, and they have everything for it.
We will see, hopefully I start swiping the credit card soon

There's only a few manufacturer's of all these body parts. So, I've been told. No matter what company, be it Goodmark, AMD, Year One, etc....they all get it from the same manufacturer's. Again, at least that's what I've been told. So, with that being said, that's probably why most of them fit the same and need work in order to fit.

DING DING DING!!!! Yes Marcus you are correct, LKQ/Keystone is one of my distributors and they own Goodmark they are also the largest importer of aftermarket sheetmetal in the US. I be leave they told me there's only two place that stamp the sheetmetal but they have different grades of metal.
I also think I read somewhere that AMD has some of their metal stamped here in the US but not 100% sure on that???

Yeah Rick, I have been told that by several body shop guys and several of the major distributors....OPG, Year One and Jeg's all told me that years ago. I must say I was shocked.

Not sure how true all that, but....
Just think about it. if all parts come from same source and Dynacorn or Goodmark,Sherman, etc stocks just about everything, why does AMD carry only a portion of what above companies have? Because the parts they sell are not same.
If any of you ordered same part from Goodmark and AMD, you would clearly see which part is Goodmark.
AMD sells their own parts and Golden Legion ,which have part numbers that start with X.
I prefer AMD over any other brand. Because parts are made from much heavier gauge steel, better fit, correct stamping of holes, position of brackets, better pronounced bodylines, cleaner edges and just overall better quality . I might be a little biased ,because I am authorized distributor for AMD, but I was also Goodmark distributor at same time.
Bottom line ,all aftermarket parts may require work to make them fit. AMD parts are much thicker gauge than Goodmark and it's a proven fact and usually are much higher quality. My second choice would be Dynacorn
