My wife has had a 1974 Bronco for years and is finally ready to sell it. It was her first husband's truck (he's deceased). A friend of mine was over today looking at it and basically offered us $5000 for it. Just trying to get an idea as to what it's worth. The truck has sat for 18 years (last insurance sticker was 1996).

It has a removable top. 351 Windsor with a 3 speed auto. Nothing really fancy about it and is fairly stock from what I can see. Before it was parked, it was rebuilt with new paint, motor done, etc. Of course since it's been sitting for so long, every seal will need to be replaced, the tranny and motor will need to be pulled, brakes, new tires, etc. When I put trans fluid in, it leaks out shortly after so the trans will need some work. The brakes will all need to be done. So there's a lot of work that it will need to make it safe to drive. He got underneath it and could only find one spot where the rust has come through. He said it looks like all if the regular spots that rust have been fixed or replaced. The truck was stored inside a garage for years, until I moved it out and took over the shop. It's always covered from the elements. So what do you guys think, is $5k a fair price considering what it needs to get it running. Here's some pics

Considering that the truck needs a lot of work, I'd let it go for $5k. I love the body styling on those older broncos.

Great trucks! Do some snooping around on ebay/CL/Auto Trader, etc. Those have a strong cult following, often sell for more than you expect.

I'd say 5k is a fair price to a friend, don't get upset when he turns it and doubles his money though.

Looks like a nice rig, unless you're just not into it I'd do a few of the things you were talking about and make some more on the deal. I've had three early broncos and even when kept simple they're a kick in the pants. Actually the simpler the better!

5k is dirt cheap. Try putting it on ebay and I bet you get double.

Mike,

That is crazy dirt cheap as said before!

Maybe, where you are located it isn't, but out here in the southwest, they pull big money

example;
a good friend just sold a 67' Bronco 289 2V, manual trans that basically needed a new tub, the rockers were rusted out and removed, the A-pillar/ door mounts where rusted, spots on the floor pan, the wheel wells were cut out sometime ago to accommodate larger tires and had bad doors, but a extra "workable pair" came with it
Had the hard top too
crap tires and rims
it ran, but not well

It sold here on Las Vegas Craigslist in one day to a company that builds them for customers, located in Phoenix, AZ for $4800

I can contact my buddy and see if he has the guy from Phoenix contact info

Thanks for all the responses guys. After talking with the wife last night, it looks like I'm going to get the Bronco running myself and up the price next year. As it needs new tires anyways, I may end up putting in a lift as they are cheap. Looks like the Acadian gets pushed to the side again. Oh well will try and work one day one th Bronco and the next day on the car. Thanks again guys.

They are bringing 12k to 15k around here for a NICE one. Many out there asking way more, but not getting it. There's no doubt though, completely rebuilt, this truck will bring good money.

Dynacorn is reproducing bodies for these, so I'd say demand for them is pretty high.
