One of only 36 built, this 250 GTO is being sold at no reserve this Saturday at Bonham's in Monterey.
A 250 GTO has never been never been sold in a public setting in the modern era of classic car auctions and the last reported (and disputed) private sale was in the UK in October of 2013 for what was then touted as the highest price paid for an automobile @ $52M.
My wife and I viewed this car today at Laguna and it is far from a museum showpiece...the front fenders were visually peppered with rock chips clearly seen in the aluminum fenders...but that's what we call "provenance",lol!
My guess...well north of $75M...maybe even topping $100M:

Kudos to Bonhams for selling at no reserve and letting the marketplace decide its value. With 250 GTO's almost never changing hands, wealthy buyers will come from every corner of the world to bid. I'm looking forward to watching the bidding in person.

$100 mil is a long way from $52 mil. That would be impressive in today's world economy. We shall see...

Don't be surprised if it goes for more than 100 mil. These are crazy times and the Gto,s don't change hands often. If you have the money and want one this is probably your only chance for awhile.

I'm down with your logic Charlie...the Europeans will push this close or past $100M I feel.
As they always say...try and replace it...because you can't.:G-Dub:
