I just found out that my car is going to be
in Popular Hot Rodding Magazine
I am going to be meeting Johnny Hunkins PHR photographer extrodinair this weekend in Columbus Ohio to participate in the True Street Challenge. This will involve a 30 mile cruise
followed by 3 quarter mile passes on the National Trail Race track...
Johnny is going to get some action shots at the track and then later we will take the car out for a photo shoot.
They plan on doing a 6-8 page feature on the car.
I am so excited and nervous I can hardly sleep.

I want to extend a big thank you to Steve Rupp for helping hook me up for this this great opportunity

It's that way at Super Chevy also.. some mags just sit on stuff FOREVER.. we generally use stuff pretty quick unless we have several Camaros and want to spread them out some..

I am just getting ready to start writing the October issue that comes out in August.. lol

Scott,
I am looking forward to reading all about your car in PHR. Your engine compartment set up is very inspirational. I have your engine pic printed out. :D Good luck with the photo shoot.

I just got back in town from the PHR photo shoot/True Street drag event @ National Trail Raceway.
What a rush. I have never had a car on the track so I was really excited.
We started by taking a 30 mile cruise then back to the track for three
1/4 mile runs. They do not let you open the hood or work on the car once you start on the cruise. The only thing you can adjust is the tire pressure.
I didn't make any adjustments to the car prior to or during the event.
I thought about putting on drag radials, removing front sway bar, lowering rear tire pressure,Using race fuel etc..But I decided to run it as I do when I drive the car on the street.
The 1/4 mile passes were done in hot lap fashion.
Down the strip.
Back down the return lane.
Straight to the start line and run it again.
No cool down period.
The car ran great. No problems.
(Keep in mind that I waited for this car to be built for 1 year and it only has 300 miles on it since completion.)

My 60' times really sucked. (best 60' 2.2) :geezer:
I was extremely traction limited and had to really baby the throttle off the line.
Once I got rolling it seemed to go pretty good.
My best time was 13.2 @ 110 MPH.
What surprised me was that I crossed the finish line in 3rd gear @ about 5700 RPM's. (3.73 rear end ratio, 26" tire 1.34 3rd gear ratio). I really thought that I would have to shift into 4th before crossing the line.
The photo shoot with Johnny was awesome.
I had no idea how much work goes into doing a quailty shoot.
We shot pictures for 6 straight hours
He worked my dad,my two buddies and I like borrowed mules.
He is truly a perfectionist...
 to Popular Hot Rodding Johnny Hunkins and Steve Rupp for allowing me this opportunity.
