I have a complete set front/rear that I would like to install in my 69 Pro-Touring Camaro. My question is has anyone installed the late model seats in a 69? I installed new carpet recently and just placed the front seats in the car....they seem a little high but I have to cut some of the tabs off to get the track flat on the floor. If anyone has pictures of an install to include a side view it would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I asked if anyone had done this on Pro Touring site several months ago. Crickets still chirping.

I believe that a few people have tried the fifth gen seats in their car
I was even considering them when I did my 5th gen console, but the seats would sit way too high for me
The others had the same results when they tried too

I've got a set of Recaros out of a 2014 Z28 that I am going to try. They are such comfortable seats that I have to try to get them to fit. Might have to modify the seat pans to get them a little lower. I will post up some pics once I get them fitted.
Luckily I had to push the 6L90E high into the tunnel so the shifter is located well for high mounted seats and I am only 5'9"... :D

I mocked these up and it looks like they are going to fit. There is 3.5 inches clearance to the headliner. I modified the floor pans to accept the factory mounts. No power applied in these pics so the front is high. These seats are very comfortable.

They do look good but about with the door closed. Just looking at the pic and with me being 6'2" I don't think I could use them. But they are an amazing seat.

I think they will be OK with the door shut. Probably no wider than the Procar Rally seats I used in my 69 Firebird with deluxe door panels. It will be tight to the seatbelt retractor but the Morris Classic retractor sits toward the door.
These seats have a lot of travel. It is amazing how far back they will go.
I spent the day yesterday modifying the back seat to see if it will work. It is a bit of a Frankenstein project, had to narrow and shorten the seat back. The bottom needs to be modified to clear the minitubs. I was able to retain the folding seat back. I am not quite ready to declare the experiment a success. I may have sacrificed it in the name of science...

The 5th gen Z28 seats have most of the power functions ripped out so they are lighter. But even then, they are quite heavy.

No. The project has been on hold while we moved. Moving my shop took 24 trailer loads and it was quite a chore. Been busy setting up the new shop and storage building. Hope to get back on it soon.

This is a personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt. I am sure they are comfortable and functional but height and profile wise I feel they are a bit awkward looking. They kind of look like two people sitting in the car with those headrests.

I'm following the same path on my 68 camaro, it seems to be getting more popular. I haven't begun installing them yet but here are some pics Ive found across the net.

There's also a very detailed build thread over on pro-touring.com worth following if you plan on doing this

I just put seats from a 2014 Mustang GT in my '68 Camaro. I cut tabs off, and had a local metal shop make the "Z" brackets, then welded them to my seat frame. I don't think the seats can be bolted against the floor because of the function of the sliders. Take a look on PT under interiors/new seats what do you think. I also made a jig to insure the bolt holes were going to align properly. I think by removing the tabs off the old seats, they were able to sit lower in my car. Need any help, just ask.

Here is another one that I just found the other day. Looks like a really nice car and it's 4-sale. I would like to see more pics of the build and maybe who built the car.

Finally got these seats installed. It was extremely tight with the MCI console. Seats look a little odd because they are so tall but they are very comfortable. Driving position is great for me at 5’9”. A tilt wheel is essential. Probably wouldn’t do it again but there was no turning back.

Hi Don, do you have any pics of what you had to modify either floor pan or seat rails if any? I have a set as well that will be using on my 69 Camaro.
Thanks

I am running the standard SS seats but may upgrade to the recaros.
We notched the running boards, removed the original seat pans and mounted the seats as low possible.

I didn’t do anything this sophisticated. Just added some small extensions to the floor pans with correct mounting nut locations. I cut the locating features off the bottom of the tracks. I had to remove a skooch from the rear outside track to clear the seatbelt mounting bolt hole. One of my goals was to retain the stock mounting holes in the event that I could not get these to work.
Jim’s solution is superior but I think it would exclude the Morris three point belts I wanted to use. His method would work better with the TMI console.

My method was really a result of installing the 5th gen dash, trans tunnel and center console. something to keep in mind depending on what console you use.
