I will be there Saturday only this year. Been the last 6 years and usually get there Thursday night for the party and come home late Saturday. It looks like it is going to be a fight this year for SMOY.

Isn't this car old? I mean, a great build for sure, but I thought this car was done 5-6 years ago or was that a different one.

Nope completely different car. The other car had a lot more fab work under the hood

Oh, ok...thought something was different and notice the engine was a bit milder. But, the other one was black also with basically the same concave-type wheels, right?

Morning all
So normally I would be posting pictures of the SMOY cars but it appears you have to be at the show first thing in the morning to see them. I left my house are 4:30am to pick up Mike and his son and head to the show. However, we needed to make one stop in Indy at Raymond Automotive to drop off a set of new 2014 Z28 wheels and thankfully we did because because they had some incredible cars at the shop. It is also the home of Norris Motorsports and trust me Mike has some bad ass **** at his shop.
So back on the road and we make it to the show at 1pm and we head over to look for the SMOY cars and there not there... odd ? Maybe there at the auto cross... Nope ....?
Wait, there in the building. Cool it's hot out and now we get to look at them inside from the heat. Nope sorry sir unless it's your car you can't come in to see them. What t f we just drove 400 miles to a car show and I'm sorry you can't see the cars.
So instead of heading home this morning were heading back to the show to pay another $20 to maybe see the SMOY contenders. What also sucks is we have to hang out till 5pm tonight to see the give-away truck which isn't going to happen because at this rate I would rather be home with my family.
Sorry for the rant but after driving 400 miles to a car show and being told I can't see the cars I / WE are extremely frustrated.
The good news is I was able to see the guys at DEI and pick up the Boom Mat for the trunk of new project and Mike was also able to pick up some heat shield and fuel line cover so we saved the shipping costs.

The orange 32 is from Mansfield??? That car was hidden great. I've not seen that car and this town is not that big. Lot of old school rides down here and plenty of restoration shops. Wonder who did it?

I'm positive it they played a HUGE roll in the judges mind.

The riviera was way out there and very impressive. I felt the nova looked more the street machine to me. I don't even know how he came up with some of those ideas much less execute them in the way that he did on the riviera. It had more wow to it. The nova was just right

I agree with that 100%. The judges got it right. If it was for something like the Ridler the Riv would have been the right choice, but the Nova was definitely the better Street Machine, in the sense that we know it now. I remember when a "Street Machine" was a totally different beast - think Rick Dobbertin...
When they announced it, I thought they got SROY wrong, but then I went down and looked at the brown coupe and the sedan again, and could see why they made the choice they did - again, in the spirit of the competition...
Working on those pics...
