I'm waiting for that LS-7 to become available as a crate engine.
Bolt-in 427 cubic inches and 500 horsepower in a Gen IV package. I don't know if it gets any better than that. :unibrow:

Up into recent I have only really cared for the mid year Vettes. These new body styles are awesome though...And the Z06...What's not to like!! Hands down the baddest one yet!!!
I want a full report on the test drive Scott!! Or better yet, maybe I can co-pilot!! :D

Guys I hate to disappoint you, but the Z06 doesn't pull very hard at WOT........Just Kidding!....Actually, the thing is an ANIMAL!...definitely eyeball flattening acceleration..The thing is truly a racecar for the street, with A/C and a Bose radio to boot. Buyers will not be disappointed, only Porsche and Viper owners will be......
This is a pretty good depiction of me after my first wot accel..
Have fun SS!

Definitley one of the best Vette's ever!
On another note I drove a 2005 400hp GTO yesterday. It isn't the best looking car, but once inside and behind the wheel it puts a smile on your face

Cool, a local boy! That's a great dealership, I've bought three new vehicles from them. They have the best Vette selection in this area by far. Now, trying to get a new Z06 at ANYTHING resembling sticker price will be another thing!

I just found out LS2 and LS7 crate engines will be available this fall.
Any guess as to how much green they'll be?
I know the LS6 was $8000.
I can see the LS7 being $10,000 or higher easily.

The girlfriend says 15k for a LS7 motor she thinks...My guess would be very similar...They wont be cheap but they will be VERY worth it!!!

$22-25,000 is my guess.
The ZL1 Ram Jet 454 crate motor was $20,000 last year!

You can get a complete LS2 for $5000. I would think the LS7 in the $9000 range.

There is no way the crate version will be under 10K....Hand Built, Different block, Dry sump(at least in Z06 form)...,Titanium components, and a whole lot more race program technology in that one... They will charge more because people will be climbing over one another to get it....15-20K
Stuart Adams

I agree, 20K, the Z06 is what a 20-30K upgrade over the stock vette, which most changes are motor related, correct.

Actually, the Z06 is far different from its brethren. Unique parts include an Aluminum chassis, magnesium cradle, carbon fiber fenders and hood, 3" flared quarter panels, HUGE brakes, specific exhaust etc etc...There are quite a few differences, they may look similar on the outside, but underneath, it is pure performance at its best....So Stuart, you have your order in yet?

I got to see my first C6 Z06 at the Amelia Island Concourse d' Elegance 2005. Chevy was putting on a 50th anniversary of the small block chevy during the event. They brought a silver Z06 with the LS7 for display.
OMG! This car is amazing. It is the FIRST vette that has made my heart flutter since I saw my first C4 and first C5 (sorry guys, the standard C6 just doesn't do it for me).
The rear fender flares are WICKED cool and really remind me of the same look as the flares I put on my 69 Vette. In fact, the rear tires are basically the same ridiculous width on the new Z as I have on my Vette (335 30 18 vs. the 19" series on the Z).
Here is the really awesome news. They announced at the seminar the LS7 crate motor will be available in the coming weeks. The announcement is two weeks prior to the official press release.
They had a cut away of the LS7 on display as well. WOW! My guess is 500 hp is simply the tip of the iceberg for this machine.

$65K, but it would be up to the dealer what kind of mark up would be on it from there.
No mention of the LS7 crate motor price though.
