Reminds me of Rocky's GMC on 'The Rockford Files'.

And wouldn't a "chrome roll bar" and a step side, gold paint be the 6 million dollar man?
Nonetheless, probably my favorite gm p/u body style right there, i've always wanted one...

Remember the 1980 GMC and Chevy's had square headlights. IIRC they were an option.
I had forgotten about this special edition GMC model. My new fav of the 1973-1980 trucks.

I never knew about those trucks, Skip. I've never seen the short box one before. I bet it's pretty rare. Good looking truck.
I do remember this truck from Cannonball Run but didn't realize it was a factory truck, or the same thing as what you posted, Skip, until I went searching for it. Cool stuff.

Trey,
Very cool.
Nice too for folks that need a dually could replicate the 1980 Indy truck look if they don't buy new for whatever reason, and have something different than 99.9% of what's out there.

thanks! Guam was where the pic of the 75 where taken..
plans LBZ/4l85 with 241/241 doubler.. AC and be able to be a competent off road vehicle, tow 12-15k via GN/5th wheel setup. be able to comfortably cruise at 70-75 all day( cross country road trips) 35" tires 4.10 and the .75 OD of the 4l85 will put ~2000rpm which +/- 100rpm of where the 01-05 dmax trucks run at that speed in stock setup.
possible up grade rear axle from 10.5 14b to a 1150 AAM and get disc all around... there are rear disc conversion out there... they use the D44 rotor and caliper and adapter brackets.. not bad for little to no towing setups... they are dwarfed by the OEM D60 13" disc setup not too mention the disc brakes that come on the 01-10 2500hd/3500 trucks
currently sits on open D60 and spooled 10.5 14B. 4.10 f/r
52/64 spring netting about ~4" of lift and ~12" of vertical wheel travel 315/70/17, hydro boost
current engine is a 468BBC /400/203 with a woods 18" travel front drive shaft
cross over steering
engine/tranny/ tcase is pulled to to stiffen the frame..run new brake/fuel lines
fix cab/body holes..
frame twist axially due to the x-over steering, i dont really want to box the frame..
looking at makeing a removable panhard bar for DD/highway use

drove the 75 out to CA from ohio with a 350/350/203.. found out the hard way that some put a miss match rear driveshaft.. broke the tranny tail housing.. flat towed (t-case in netural and tranny in park) it back whole thing weighed ~18,000lb 10k of that was the 02.
285/75/16 on the 75 and 315/75/16 on the 02

So what's the difference between a C and a K truck?
I'd love to get a 68-72 Chevy/GMC 4x4 and put a diesel engine in it. Maybe a smaller Cummins instead of the monster 5.9 that was in the Dodges. One day for sure.

C is 2wd K is 4wd in 88 when 90% of the line went IFS the straight axle 4wd where classified as V or W-30s mainly the cab and chassis trucks.. there are OEM straight axle up to 91.
speaking of that body style... build thread

i have done a Dmax repower my self... same GM std bell housing bolt patter. LBZ(06-07) cam with 4l85 in the chevy 3500 vans. 08 and newer come with 6l90s.. i plan on putting on in my 79 malibu with the T56 behind it and a 13" single disc clutch. Dmax runs a 14.X" flywheel.. i did the swap for about 8k at a need it now pricing... probally do it for 5-6k in a no rush deal.. in stock hard part form.. the dmax is capable of putting 600-700hp at the crank with just tuning.. size wise its same lenght as a LWP BBC ~1" wider and ~2" taller (turbo) and about ~100lb heavier than a iron head BBC
put a 06 LBZ in my 99 C3500HD

I didn't realize this truck was part of Chevy's dispay on Power Tour.
You can’t have a Chevrolet display without trucks, and Chevrolet brought one of our favorite SEMA 2013 builds in this ’78 K10 short bed. The truck was resto-modded to look completely stock on the exterior and interior only to reveal a 320hp 5.3L E-ROD crate engine and 4L70E transmission under the hood.

That's freaking awesome, Adam! That's basically how I'd want the truck to sit etc. I've even thought of doing exactly what that guy did by taking a simple 2wd long bed and making it into a 4wd building a custom 4 link front and rear or getting a later, modern IFS frame to put under the truck. I'd want the truck to ride nicely. I don't see leaf springs front and rear allowing that to happen. LWB C10s are just given away but look better as a 4wd in my mind, too. Thanks for sharing that link and answering my question.
Good info on the truck too, Skip. GM is doing some good promotion work this way I think.
