this may be a bit off the wall
but
I've never really been a cologne or after shave wearer. But, I'd kind of like to start
what cologne would yall suggest for a 50 year old successful family guy?
I don't want to smell like a trendy 25 year old. No offense to anyone. I'm just not 25 anymore.....

If it helps...I'm not much of a fashion guy. Off days are blue jeans, tennis shoes and t-shirts

thanks
and thanks for not harassing me :headspin:

For me it was exhaust smell.

Not the answer you're looking for, but I have to throw it in there.

As long as your not smelling like fumunda cheese I wouldn't sweat it. :D

My wife seems to really enjoy valvolene 80-90. I buy it 5 gallons at a time.

Maxima Castor 927 mixed with some C12 race gas.. exhausted.. is heaven secent!.. Nothing like the smell of fresh 2 stroke in the a.m. :D

If that's not available.. I've been pretty happy with Obsession, by Calvin Klein
--- for men of course! Masculine.. and tolerable.. not too bold.

I've always liked WD40 and it's relatively unique.

I absolutely agree, but

Have you tried the PB blaster? Pure awesomeness in a aerosol can. Just holding the can makes you a stud. Add the spray straw well ..... well...... well.. just ,,damn.

No joke here...a guy called into ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike show today and during a 'Grill Golic' session where almost any topic was fair game, he asked if they were yay or nay on cologne.

Was that you Ord?

:D

The obvious question is why do you want to wear it?

But please don't tell us why...

In a somewhat serious response, I use Burberry Brit and would say it works well. Not a trendy smell, I hate those myself, but also not aftershave smell. The wife likes it and I have never had any complaints about smelling horrible from co-workers.

no no no not oils and gasses...waxes smell the best, or even some sealants have a nice smell to them.

Get a good Microfibre cloth and wax yourself

wasn't me
thanks for all of the responses. very entertaining. I normally smell like Italian food (own restaurants).
I guess that on that rare occasion when the guys and wifes go out as a group, it'd be nice

Personally if I was in the situation I'd have the wife pick it out.......that's the opinion that really matters. Just tell her to error on the conservative side.

There's the right answer....

Go shopping together... or with your daughter if you have one (or more). That's what I do.

Don't spray any on you! Use their little sample paper things.... you spray it on the paper thingys --- then wave it around a bit -- then don't stick your nose right on it - hold it away a bit and kind of wave it and you'll get the scent. Take your time and really make sure you get a couple that you like.

My favorite new one is Bond Street No 9... from Nordstrom

But everybody has ones they like and ones they hate..... I personally would wear Old Spice every day because it reminds me of my Grandpa.... but Gwen isn't a fan... LOL

I get the little woman involved in decisions like that, and as you can see she's pretty pleased about it.

Well, you can always rub a couple tuna fish sandwiches under your arms and around your neck every morning and that should help! LoL!

But if you don't like the sweaty a$$ smell, then have the Woman pick it out. Honestly, they all smell about the same to me, but I wear what is sitting on the counter that she bought me!! LoL!

I wear Ralph Polo Blue, but its a younger guy scent for sure.

But that's by far the best advice...have your wife go with you to pick it out. That's what I did.

Good one Ron.

Ord,

I had my doubts at first, but lat-g'ers stepped up and provided some good advice in what is very likely the one and only cologne thread ever posted on here. :D

Burberry Touch is a pleasant, subtle scent. I don't wear cologne all that much though.

yea, I wish I didn't have to be the one to start it, but I guess it would have happened eventually.
some great suggestions and comments. I'm going to take the little woman out and see what we come up with. I will keep yall posted

I feel like I need to start my 70 superbee build thread just to make amends.

I'm just not quite ready to do that

will this pic at least appease the Lateral-G gods?

Look forward to seeing your big 'Bee build.

For what it's worth, I am 51.
As far as going out / special occasions, one of my all time favorites has been Fahrenheit by Christian Dior. I also like the Polo's (green or blue). For everyday office job, I use Gap Core as it's not very strong.

Now stop buying cologne and start buying car parts. You don't need to smell good anyways until the car is finished and you're rolling around town like a big ol pimp. :drive:

Maybe I missed it, but what are your planned specs for the RR?

ord27
08-14-2014, 06:15 AM
I honestly haven't decided what to do with the Bee yet.
It would be nice to take it back to original glory, but it doesn't have its original drivetrain.....

I bought it with the intention of putting it on a Schwartz chassis and dropping a 572 hemi in it with a Tremec 6 speed.

If that's the way that I go, I'd like it to look fairly stock from the outside, and inside of the car. Maybe hide some nice upgrades here and there

I do have all of the original N96 duct work, that is already restored...and the correct 8 track player for the car. I would like to use both!
