In order to get my 700r4 to play nice with the EZ-EFI, I bought the FAST adaptors to maker the geometry correct. This, in turn, moved my TV cable on my 700r4. When I went to set the cable, it extends so far, it almost completely disengages the sheath and once or twice it pulled all the way out at when adjusting for WOT. If you look, you can see two allen head bolts in the side of the manifold. That is where the bracket was before and those bolts line up with where the TV cable wants to be now. Not sure how to set this cable. Can I move the new TV holder bracket for the 700r4 forward, away from the preset holes in the FAST bracket so the sheath stays inside or is it okay for the sheath to extend so far? I would assume that the holes on the bracket are there for a reason but if the sheath extends that far anyway, it seems like it's the same difference, no? Once extended, I assume I need to move the brass fitting to take up the slack and re tighten the cable as the cable is very loose. Does that negate the ratchet action on the cable itself if I am readjusting the length of the cable? Once adjusted, I can get the cable fully pulled out at WOT and with a little tension at idle - this seems correct - but I'm not sure that the sheath/ratchet is correct. Does that really matter if the cable tension is good? Take a look at the video and let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Since you have an adjustable stop (brass part near the end of the cable) you can shorten the cable and adjust your TV cable mount to take up that slack. If you move it closer to the carb mount it should solve the slack issue. After you get it set up you can cut the excess after the cable stop.

The ratchet is the fine adjuster. Push the lock plunger in to lock the ratchet section.

Thanks for the info, Vince! So, is it the same difference if I just make sure the cable is tight and fully extended at WOT or does the ratchet play a larger role in all of this? Right now, I have the cable straight but not tight at idle and fully extended at WOT. I drove the car around the block and it seems okay - good enough to get me to a shop that can test it with a gauge I assume. I made a few adjustments as I went by sliding the adjuster towards the firewall a few clicks to firm up the shift. That said, would I be better off moving the bracket forward and re setting the ratchet? Is that "safer" or is it all the same?

Thanks!
Matt

its the same depending on the carb lever travel and if you are not reducing cable travel. just reducing the slack in the cable from its jacket. use a gauge to determine cable input. im have a hard time explaining, i hope that made sense.
