Corvette fuel filter/regulator leak problem

For those of you that have used the Corvette fuel filter/regulator for their LS swaps, did anyone have a problem with the push-in connector on the outlet end leaking?

I got most of my car wired up last weekend and was as giddy as a school girl when my PCM actually turned on the fuel pump like it's supposed to when I had a leak which dampened my enthusiasm.

I thought maybe that it was one of the hose ends that I put on the PTFE lined braided stainless that I'm using but instead it was the adapter that pushes into the outlet (to engine side) of the regulator.

If I don't have any sideways pressure on it AT ALL, it doesn't leak, but as soon as I wiggle it or the braided line moves a bit, it starts squirting out.

FYI, the blue fittings that come with this kit are the better horse-shoe style, they just haven't changed the picture.

So, I don't know if it's the regulator side of the connection that's bad or if it's the adapter that goes from push-lock to -6AN.

Today, I bit the bullet and bought another regulator and that adapter from a different supplier, just to narrow down the possibility of finding the same problem again. Speedway's kit evidently uses an edelbrock adapter so I ordered the Russel one from Summit today.

Anyway, has anyone else had this issue or did I just get some bad parts?

Probably got some bad parts with my luck. I found out my Dakota Digital VXH brain box was DOA after I installed it this weekend as well.

I've had issues with the blue fittings shown above not locking in. This was the older style however. In one of my car mags I saw there is another style that has a clip that goes over both ends of the connection, similar to the clip GM uses on the hose/fuel rail connection. Let us know how you make out with the new fittings. My guess is that its the fitting & not the regulator, but you never know these days

I had the same issue as well. I ended up having to massage the clips a little in order to get it to seat properly. In fact, I drove the car around for about 100 miles before it let go. Did that make a mess driving down the road:bang:

My fitting did the exact same thing, when I first put fuel pressure on the system.
I shut it down and pulled it apart, inspected everything, re-oiled the o-ring, and put it back together. I've tried to make mine leak since then, and it won't. Hopefully it was a one time deal for us both.

sounds like an oring issue. Might have been torn or rolled on installation. Remember to lube them before you put them on. Also check the fitting tube for distortion.

Glad I'm not alone. All the o-rings "looked" good after I disassembled it, but it is really hard to see down inside the regulator. I don't know how a guy could go about replacing them or if it's even possible. I imagine you'd need a pick that's just the right size.

Anyway, when I install the new parts, I'll make sure to oil them up really good and hope that solves my problem.

My New WIX filter/regulator came on the UPS truck last night along with a new adapter from push-lock to -6AN.

I lubed it and installed it without issue and no leaks!

So, I don't really know why the first setup was leaking and I guess I don't really care, 'cause it's fixed!

Oh, and I couldn't resist trying to start the car. It's Alive!

It could be just poor quality parts too?

I have seen a bunch of those cheaper fittings leak and or be made with improper dimensions (-6an fitting, but only a 3/16" ID ??)

That brings that filter/ regulator into question as well??

That is why I will only use better quality parts (ie AC Delco, Wiks, Russel, Earls, etc)

Never had a issue with the better parts (yes, more expensive, but you get what you pay for!!)
