The CLPmotorsports team is in the process of building our new RCR SLC LMP1 race car for the 25 hour race and for NASA Super Unlimited class.

Hats off as always to Fran for bringing these cars to the market and for making them attainable for non corporate teams. These are bound to be a game changer in the racing community.

We have a long way to go, but we hope you will tag along for the ride.

Here's how she arrived.

Here is the PPG/MTI sequential trans and some fancy RCR billet pieces.

The front suspension is easy on the eyes as well.

Here's the headers we started building. They originally started off as a set of LG Motorsports 1 7/8" Super Pro long tubes.

That looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing, I'm definitely interested in seeing more. I've wanted a SLC from them for a long time, this looks like even more fun. Sequential gearboxes are the coolest thing ever!

T.C. For information only, I'm not an expert on this yet:

I'm not sure what the LMP version costs, but here's the SLC pricing page -

There are upgrade options, Motor and transaxle costs, that Tranny is ~ $25K IIRC. Then you build it from there.

Still less than a Riley :D

It ships out complete less motor and trans. There is some assembly required beyond dropping in the motor and trans but its an amazing product for the price point. It uses corvette running gear (motor/transaxle). We put the sequential in it which is expensive but the regular t56 or tr6060 corvette transaxle works great as well.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Just pm me if you want.

Glad to hear you got all the bits and pieces. I know there was some disappointment in that regard from QRP and Davidson with their SLC deliveries.

Not familiar with that trans. We run a Mendeola in the GTM. It's been flawless, might be overkill though with a car as light as yours. What's it weigh?

The mendeola is nice. They are definitely built tough being mainly used offroad. I didn't realize you were the gtm guys. You guys have definitely put a lot of work into that car. Hats off to you. The car is just over 2,000 pounds.

I'm by no means "the guy". Rich & Yvonne, Jim Haussler & Mike Holland are the team principals. I run the pit crew and a few other things.

We are co-developing the road race transmission solution with Mendeola. The GTM is about 700lbs heavier. We started with the Porsche transmissions that Factory Five designed into the original kit. They couldn't take the torque against the grip of racing tires. Once we got the Mendeola, that exposed the weakness of the designed in 1/2-shafts. Solved that with custom Porsche 930 shafts and CV's which will hold a lot more power than we're putting down. That portion of the car is nails now.

It's an evolution. Improving part "a" exposes weaknesses in parts "b" & "c". Fix those and expose 2-3 new ones. Rinse and repeat until you have a car that collects podium finishes in 14 out of 15 races entered and 1st place in 10 out of 15 as we did last year.

Looking forward to seeing this thing out there. Car count is a big factor going forward in WERC. More is better.
