LT4 crate availability and pricing?

Does anyone know if there is a timeframe for availability and pricing for it as a crate engine? I have serious LT4 envy for my project (2nd gen Camaro (http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=44674))

I think you meant C7 Z06, but honestly dude you could have one hell of an engine built for the price that GM is going to want for that engine. The LS9 is still around $22,000 and I highly doubt the LT4 will be anywhere near that cheap. There are a lot of builders that can build more power than that Naturally Aspirated with good street manors.

The LS9 was the "halo" engine for the LS series, and there are rumors that the LT4 is not going to be the meanest in the LT series. So from that aspect, it would be more like an LSA. That's why I am asking about pricing as well, it could be an option to consider...

Id rather have the LT1 with a cam. LS7 type of numbers but in a mass produced engine that "should" be cheaper than the 12-13k LS7 option.

Id expect the LT4 to clear 20k just because of the supercharger

You won't see a crate LT4 release until after the Z06 C7 debuts in 2015. . (GM officials refused to speculate on the future availability of an LT4 crate engine when reminded that the LS9 eventually became part of the Chevy Performance catalog.) http://www.enginelabs.com/news/lt4-engines-chief-engineer-hints-more-power-is-coming/

Just to compare the engines, the LT4 has a smaller supercharger (R1740 TVS) than the LSA (1900 TVS supercharger). LS9 is TVS 2300. The best option would be an LS9 than the LT4 in your Camaro. Cost is higher when a product is first introduced, so don't expect the cost to be lower on LT4.

I still say go LT4. There are several cars with LS7, LS9, LSA, etc.

LT1 would be cool and different as I haven't seen anyone using that engine in their project, but still not an LT4. If it's in the budget when it's released I say go for it.

I'd expect $20k-ish for crate.

Realistically, it sounds like the best I can hope for is an LT1 around the end of the year, and a couple years down the road put a blower on it when aftermarket catches up.

I think that Street & Performance in Arkansas has an LT1 or two at their shop. They are usually one of the first places to get the new engines. Give them a call. Mark the owner is super nice guy and is a wealth of info. He will know if anyone will. I have used them for two harnesses in the past and the quality is great, but the price is on the higher side.

Get back to me after someone has swapped on of these into their early muscle car. Because of variable cam timing and electric servo assist steering the accessories on the GenV motor won't easily swap into a vintage chassis. I looked at the LT1 at SEMA in 2011 the water pump sits right where most passenger side upper control arms are in most vintage cars, the truck motors are just as bad.

And the fuel system. It has some crazy fuel pressure I mean crazy high like 900psi. Iirc

More like 2000+psi. The in-tank pump feeds a camshaft driven mechanical high-pressure pump. The aftermarket has been struggling with mechanical fuel pumps to go really big on power.

By far the best bang-for-the-buck engine is, IMO, the LSA. Even though the Gen5 architecture is the latest thing, the LSA is still a great engine that can do everything well.

I think these are all lies, lol. The only LT4 that's remotely available at this stage is the long block replacement engine (no supercharger etc). Those are around $12-13k.

The LT4 will likely not be available until mid to late 2015. The Z06's are being built now, and GM doesn't have a reputation of letting out crate engines before the production cars are out.

Price on the LT4?? Hmm... I bet they'll be $26k MSRP, maybe 24k internet price.

I haven't seen any Z06's.

The LT1 just came out as a crate engine- the base C7 has been out for a year or more.
