i bought a 5.3L( the junk yard sd it came out of a 04/05 truck) thinking it was the best route to go. so im second guessing myself. But here is the question.

i thought the ls1 intake would bolt right up. that being sd. I noticed that the water pump neck and other hose is ( i think it goes from one side to the other of the block) hitting.= and the alternator bracket is hitting.

So do i have to another water pump?
do i have to buy some type of alternator bracket
i know i have to move the a/c unit ( i thinking im going with the Kwik performance one)
do i have to move the power steering unit.

thank you for the help.

Typically, folks change over to car accessories when doing the intake swap. Yes, folks have mixed the two and made them work by grinding, cutting and spacing stuff, but that's a PITA in my opinion. Easier, cleaner and quicker to just change over to car, or just leave the truck accessories and run them...

To answer your questions....yes..to all of them..IMO.

Here is what you need to do to retain most of all your accessories, without having to buy a new / different setup (ie f-body, vette)

You would want to put a new water pump on anyways
get a "newer" style truck water pump from a 07'-up ( the water inlet neck is at a different angle and will clear a dbc TB, may not a DBW ?
(see pic)

Then order a idler relocation bracket kit and new belt from Dirty Dingo Motorsports
http://dirtydingo.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=1_206_57&products_id=1371&CDpath=8
the kit has the instructions on "trimming" your existing truck Alternator/ P/S pump brackets idler pulley boss

They also carry the A/C relocation kit for a Sanden compressor

Or the one from Kwik Performance
http://www.kwikperf.com/lsx_ac.html

here are a few pics of that same setup on my 6.0L w/ LS6 intake in my sand rail ( I modified my inlet tube at the top by welding on a -20AN fitting for my radiator hoses)
