Hello all,
I am a new member, but a many year muscle car junkie. Past rides include a '69 Road Runner 440-6 Pack, '70 Cuda 440 Vert, 4 0r 5 'Vettes (last one a '08 Z06), and a '69 Camaro SS 427 I had for 17 years.
After selling the Z-06 last year (it just wasn't "all that"), my wife made the mistake of telling me I needed a new toy to go along with my retirement in January. So we headed to Barrett-Jackson & I am now the proud new owner of a black '69 Camaro built several years ago by a very prolific member of this site.
The car has much of the DSE catalog installed (from 2 visits to DSE) and a 534 BBC & T-56 6-speed.
The car needs a little TLC to bring it back to perfection (at least in my eyes), and a few minor changes for my tastes.
It was delivered in January, and since then I have been ordering new stuff, and painting & polishing some "experienced" pieces. It has been 2-1/2 months, and because of the winter-that-never-ends, I have yet to drive it. I am hoping for no major "surprises" when I do.
Overall, I think it's a kick-ass car, and am looking forward to having a bunch of fun with it. Although I am still wondering what possessed me to buy a black car (my 1st ever).
Thanks for a great place to hang out!

Welcome to the site from another Minnesotan.
Let me know if you want help or tips for taking care of the black paint.

That's all there is to it! Minnesotans are taking over!! Good to see another one that loves to spend 10 1/2 months a year in the garage to enjoy our cars 3 weeks a year!

Thank guys.
Randy, thanks for the offer. I have a brother-in-law that has a black Nova that I think can help. The paint is good right now, but I'll know more when I can actually wash it. After yesterday (8" of April snow), who knows when that will be.
Maybe we will have some nice weather by June.
As far as pics, let me see what I can do...

A few pics added to OP. The last one was delivery day. Onto a flatbed for a short ride up the driveway & rolled into the garage, where it has sat ever since.

Awesome! glad to see it back here.
I was very excited to see this car at BJ. I went up to it, looked in the window and my girl friend told me to stop drooling on it.
Beautiful car, and welcome to the site.

Thank you all for the welcome!
Yep, this was S.W.'s car, although it had another owner for the last several years. As the car came with very little documentation, S.W. was kind enough to tell me quite a bit about it, and send me several hundred build photos. S.W. has a reputation as a great guy, and I can tell you he has been very helpful to me.
I am trying to find out more about the car, especially motor specs, but have not yet been successful.
It will finally be nice enough in Minne to drive the car this week, EXCEPT I have the valve covers off for a refresh of the straight lining. They are going out tomorrow for clear anodizing to make them a bit more scratch resistant. So my patience will have to continue for a few more days.
I will say I had marginal interest in buying any car at B-J as the prices are usually at the top... and certainly zero interest in a BLACK car (yeah, they're great when clean, but the maintenance is a PIA). But when I saw this one, I seemed to have forgotten all that.
I can say it is very unnerving (& maybe very foolish) to buy this type of car at an auction, where you have had no opportunity to research it, only heard it run for a minute, not spoken to the owner, and not even driven it. Talk about a leap of faith...
As I said before, I am hoping for no major surprises.
I know it needs new tires as the ones that came on it are about 10 years old. I'm thinking BFG Rivals, but figure I may as well vaporize the old hides that are on it first.
I will let you all know how it goes as I find out more.
Thank you all again for the warm welcome!
Bill

Thanks for the explanation as I was trying figure that out.
You right about that Leap of Faith to Buy a Car that you haven't driven. I've bought 3 Cars sight-unseen and was shaken in my boots til they were delivered. I'm glad to say everything was fine all 3 times. The 1st one had some issues, but I knew about them before hand. It's funny, but I sold that one and then bought it again. I could say that was sight-unseen again as I hadn't seen it for a few years, but I knew the car and had helped the Owner with some Carb Issues. The 2nd time around, the car was not anywhere near the Condition I had sold it. So I sold it again and vowed I would not buy it a third time.
