2 years ago I started to build a 1966 F-100 with a 2011-13 3.5L TT EcoBoost Chassis.
Best I can tell it will not be allowed to run Auto-X because of the have to have in order for engine to run and work ABS, Roll Control etc?
Or would I be able to run in a later model class? It will be titled as a 1966 but will pretty much be sheet metal only.
If anyone here cannot answer who would I ask?
I know I know its hard to picture this thing going around corners?
At least its a Ford in a Ford! hahaha
Just seeing what I can turn a 300.00 Truck into . .

I guess I did not make it very clear.
Because there is no stand alone harness available for the 3.5TT I have to keep the electronic assist steering, ABS, Roll Control, Stability control intact as there does not seem to be a way around it. After watching many runs in Scottsdale a week or so ago I was surprised at the number of cars that were locking up a single wheel or just 2 wheels going into a turn. I started project 2yrs ago in April but now looks like I will not be able to run.
Can I still run it? I thought I read no ABS etc allowed.
Just trying to figure out which class if any I could run in.

here is where I am at right now. Illness has caused a 2yr hold on project but really want to get back on it soon.

I would Guess the car would be nicer to drive With all the original Equipment, but maybe the Stability Control and such would work "weird" in a differnet car than programmed for?
There is a lot of stand alone engine management systems to choose.
Electromotive - USA ;)
Haltech - Australian
Autronic
Motec and probalby more, but these are the one i remember right now
Megasquirt too! :)
I think Motec and Autronic are the most "fancy" and pricey, but they all are mostly the same but with different "extra-abilities" built in, as running turbo-lag Control and whatever. Now they probably all are the same.
Electromotive can be very simple if you want it to be, a friend has a turbo VW With only MAP, TPS and TEMP that is all! You could have much more if you want though. Haltech I have also heard are Nice and easy to work With. I have not owned any myself. But look up their homepages

Only one of those companies makes one. MegaSquirt. But for a price between 10,000-12,000.00 just to run the engine think its a bit much. I can do half the truck for that amount. I was hoping to do the complete truck DONE for around 25k or less.
At this point I will have to keep going with the stock Ford Computer's.
I "think" I have that portion figured out.
I was trying to find out what I needed to do to be able to run Auto-X.
The stock ford computer will not know what vehicle it is running just that it will be a bunch lighter.

Where did that price come from? I would Guess like 2000-3000 maybe for an Electromotive. Haltech is maybe around the same. Megasquirt is cheaper, Motec on the other hand can probably end up expensive if you want to.. I think the hardest part to Control would be the transmission maybe?, the stand alone units can work inbetween Stock Control units.
But I see now that you are using the Complete frame from the newer car, so then it would probably be easier to use it as is. Just "bolt-on" a New body ;) (Sort off.. :D )
And end up in that class you end up in. :)

You may not be able to run in a GG in a timed matter, but I would bet there are plenty of other places to run autox that wouldnt give two hoots what you have, and would just be glad you showed up to have fun.

Because its such a complex system having Twin Turbo's and direct injection nobody messes with it. I called and got a price. that is some serious $$

Having no time to compare what others are doing would take out half the fun . .

They would time you, but you would be considered exhibition and you wouldnt be eligible for prizes. Would be the same thing as showing up with tires lower then 200 tread wear, or any of their other rules to keep things fair.

This looks like a really neat project. Good luck with it -- and I hope you are feeling better. There are more cars running ABS than you think
So go for it.

I will continue with project. The intent was not for a Auto-x but as a daily driver that I could take to Auto-x just to see how it compared and how it did.
Some day hope to build something that would do well in a Auto-X
I will probably make a few laps in my big block powered truck but its more of a hot rod than a corner carver . . .
