I've located a car I might be interested in and am just seeing if someone from here could stop by and confirm what he's showing me before I jump on a plane.
He has already sent me a good amount of photos and documentation. He also had a shop write an inspection report that I am going to get tomorrow.
I might even buy you dinner!
Thanks y'all
Dave

Getting close to jumping on a plane myself. Last bump and crossing my fingers someone else can put their eyes on this car before I do.
Let me know

I sent a note to a friend who runs a shop in Bend with your contact information. No promises but he may give you a shout. Good luck.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. I'm getting a PPI today. So far everything is looking good with this car. And a picture for good luck....

I'm over 3 hours away, and don't know anyone closer.
Dave - I have a good friend in Bend who's "qualified" that will take a look for you.

So is that the one your "looking" at?
Thats a 993 right? What year? and if you don't mind, how much you paying for it? you can pm me if you'd like. I've been looking at a 911 for some time and had it down to an '08 or '07, but with three kids in college, well, you know...So if i can find a '89 to '95 993, ......I've been checking CL, but haven't been seeing anything real clean for those years....
Good luck with purchase......Mike

Thanks Sieg! It's an '87. I'll hold off on the details until I've made a decision on it, but if your good with the internet you can probably find the ad. ;)

I love how all I had to do was post a picture of the car and folks come running, y'all are the best!

...and I didn't buy it. He was asking $25k firm. After getting a PPI from the local German Auto Tech who worked on the car for the past year and going through every little detail with him I told the seller I could not pay $25k. I was thinking (but didn't offer) $20-22K. The seller said that the first potential buyer (who had backed down from it initially) got back in touch with him to buy it. So there ya go. Not sure about the rules on posting ads from another forum, so I'll just say I found it on Pelican.
I read a pretty funny comment on 911's in this whole process that went something like "Every old 911 is a $30k car, it's just if you pay that up front or down the road"
I appreciate all the comments and help. The hunt continues!

Thanks for posting that. Pelican's a good reputable site (for those that don't know) for Porsche's. Sounds like a fair price for a 993 to me, they really don't (if their in relatively good condition) go for much less than that.
But that funny post is pretty right on from what i know. I'm looking (not actively, was, but am waiting) for a '07/'08 997 with a 2wd S model with a six speed. When the right one comes along, i will hopefully be ready. But if a 993 fell in my lap, clean for 17 to 20, well, i wouldn't kick it outa bed for eatin crackers....
