I'm going to be arriving in Phoenix on Sunday and will be there for 3 weeks on a work related course. Unfortunately I'm going to be spending a lot of time studying and in the hotel as it's a very in depth course. I'm hoping to get out at least once for a good meal. Any suggestions for a must go to restaurant in the Phoenix area. I'll be staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel on W Peoria Ave just off the Black Canyon Freeway. Unfortunately I have to rely on the instructors who will have vans to take a bunch of us at once, taxi or walking. Any suggestions would be great.

Also Mike --- BAER brakes is there -- not far from Bob's house/shop. He'd be happy to take you over I'm sure. He's in Glendale - which is not far from Peoria at all. Tell him you're my buddy -- and he'll roll out the red carpet. Serious!

Thanks Greg. I'll keep that in mind. Not sure how much free time I will actually have when I'm there but I hope to have some. I didn't realize Baer brakes was there. I looked online and it's about a five minute walk from the hotel. Unfortunately my course runs Monday to Friday with several exams so lots of studying. A buddy of mine just got back from the same course, but was held in Florida, and he said he was up til midnight studying quite a few nights. I was hoping to make it to Fesler as I've bought some trunk hinges. They're not open on weekends so I have to get my parents, who are semi retired and are in Phoenix for a couple months, to go get them for me. I was just looking at the Imagine Injection website. Cool stuff!!

Hey Mike,

I drive right by there on my way to and from work every day. Unfortunately, that area isn't very convenient for getting to the really good restaurants. My wife and I live north of there and we refer to it as a "restaurant dead zone". You'll always have to drive east at least 20 blocks to start finding the "good" places. I-17, Black Canyon Highway, runs through the part of town that isn't particularly flush with expendable income, so you don't find much in the way of great restaurants. You can probably find some very authentic Sonoran-style mexican food though!

There's a decent place down the road from your hotel called BobbyQ. It's a barbeque joint that has an interesting atmosphere. If you're just looking to get out of the hotel for a night that would be a good one. Their food is good, but won't change your life.

Fuego Bistro is very good, but a bit of a drive.

Oregano's is great Italian food, but again, a bit of a drive from your hotel.

On a separate note, if you want a ride to go check out a hot rod shop or something, let me know. I'd be happy to pick you up and head over there. I haven't visited any of those places either so it would be an experience for me as well.
