Recommended Tire Size?

Good afternoon fellers,

Picked up a set of 18x8 and 18x9.5 TSWs.

Im not real confident Im picking the right tire sizes and would like some confirmation Im not way off if you happen across this thread and have time.

Im thinking 245/40 on the front and 285/35 on the back? I wouldn't mind a little bulge to the tire. I definitely don't want stretch.

Or 245/45 & 285/40?

Those seem like odd tire sizes though.

I'm running 245/40/18 5.0" BS & 275/40/18 5.5" BS

Very tight fit in the rear, my car wouldn't take any wider section width without mini-tubbing it. Rolling the fender lips would help. I had to massage a couple areas on the inner fenders at the frame also.

I have oodles of room in the rear. I can go up to 305s without rolling the lip (but they wont fit on that 9.5 rim). I have 285s currently on a 17. Im just wondering if stepping up to the 18 and 285/35 if there would still be a decent amount of sidewall.

Its a tough balance trying not to completely blow my bank account out and still have a decent sticky rim/tire combo.

Most performance tire manufacturers specs list acceptable rim widths and section widths for a given tire size. Stay within those specs and you should be fine.

This will give you approximate, not actuals.

Also for any tire size/brand you are considering, Tirerack.com has all the specs such as reccomended rim width (but not the sidewall height) listed. Go to the site, search tires by size, enter one size you are considering and click the specs tab for other sizes/specs.

I appreciate the responses. I guess I should've worded my question a little different.

I like to see the tires before I buy them but Im not going to have that luxury in this case.

The initial sizes I picked will be a good performing tire, not overly fat/thin/ ect? I mean I know they'll the car and the rim Im putting them on. But are they a bit too small?

I calculate out 25.7 in the front and 35.9 in the rear overall diameter. Im concerned this diameter might be a bit on the small side.

Snettertons in ET20. I couldn't find a forged wheel for the price I got these for.

Im going to have to run spacers. Don't hate me.
